Hi all!
Okay - now I collected enough valor to show you my first pencil drawing. It is one of our cats at the kitchen-window. Our house is very old and has crooked walls - but blush.gif not so much as in the drawing. Would it be good to use a ruler for walls? Or would that kill atmosphere?

OK, here it is:

Awawaw - this post was going anywhere but not at the place I wanted to post. please, Mod, can you put it into the right thread?

I like your drawing.

Using a ruler? Well, I would suggest that you use the ruler to sketch in the walls lightly even if the walls are uneven because then you set your boundaries. Otherwise if you do it freehand you won't be confident in where you should be drawing. The only thing that you should be careful with rulers is placing the line right. Placing it parallel to the edge of the paper is the easiest because then you know its not going to look crooked.

Hi Nicole,

thank you so much.
Of course I'm still drawing. it is like an addiction. Once you have started you cannot stop drawing. biggrin.gif
I started last year but seriously this January.

Great first drawing post Trausomme! You have a good detailed drawing there that you've obviously put a lot of work into.

If you can freehand a drawing, even an architectural one, its wonderful, but often its useful to lightly put in some guidelines to make sure that your perspective is correct in your drawing. There's nothing wrong with using tools to help you do the best that you can.

Perspective drawing is hard i could not even think not to use a ruler lol .. mine would just not turn out right at all .
