Hi Everyone!

My name is Jon, and just found this website yesterday! I plan on spending as much time as I can here, working through all the lessons and sharing thoughts and drawings. I am 53, but its never too late to begin I guess. I, like most people thought talent was something you were born with, and too some extent I still believe that. That is why some people can draw, or play an instrument, or be a whiz at math, etc. at an early age. But I also believe that if you work hard enough with enough committment and desire, you can accomplish the same results. I also play the banjo, and have watched 10 year olds play beautifully. I know that is a result of hard work but also think its because they are a "natural" at it. I think I am very artistic and creative, just have never been taught how to draw. I have already downloaded and printed several of the lessons, and am anxious to get started.

Welcome Jon Dean - You are not the only one starting out later in life. There are lots of people here doing the same thing. You are starting on the right track - start with the lessons and work your way through. As you improve, you will be able to post your drawings and see the difference it makes as time goes on.

Basically you have to WANT to draw and with practice, you can.

Glad to have you with us, be sure to join us in the threads and when you feel comfortable, to join in on the challenges. Any help you might need is there for the asking. Just post it and somebody will help you out.

Welcome to Drawspace Jon ....the lessons will help alot ..they did me ...I am not sure if drawing is something some are born with or not .. I know I have been drawing from the time I could pick up a pencil lol and for many years i stayed about the same .. then I came here and from the lesson and more so the help from the people here I have improved my skill ...you will find that everyone here is helpful and we are always having challenges so please join in and have fun .

Welcome to Drawspace, Jon. Its a really great site and the people here are fantastic. I, too like Kim, have been drawing since I could remember holding a pencil. I feel I have always had the ability to draw but as for the techniques and blending and all the other stuff that goes with it, didn't come until much later. I do hope to see you in the challenges!! They are a great way to build up those techniques and train the eyes at looking at something and drawing stuff. Anyways, hope to see you around!!

Hi Jon! Welcome to Drawspace... This is a wonderful site to be attached to. I am not new to this site but i never was so much into it earlier as i am into it now. I am spending most of time drawing and posting my sketches.. the best part of this site r the people and their comments... u would definitely enjoy urself here as much as all of us do...
