If anyone is interested, I have a set of Derwent Studio Color Pencils (72) barely used that I am wanting to sell for $50.00 + shipping. (that is a good deal) I have hardly used them at all and have posted pictures below.

They are harder than the Prisma's I think they are harder than the Verithin's too. But I haven't used them enough to compare. I think each artist prefer's their own brand.

If you would have any concerns about me, I have 100% feedback on ebay and I have a Paypal account that can be used. Just PM me.

These are not posted for sale anywhere else. (Ebay etc.)

I like them because they have harder leads and detail comes easier with them and they don't break when you sharpen them like my Prismas do.

I'm with you there. The Prismas are really great for vibrant colours and optimal blending but they sure wear down fast. I'm working on something right now and I ate through half of my dark green just putting in the background. Really, to keep a sharp point the way you are supposed to you have to sharpen every 10 seconds! And in my set at least, some of the pencil woods don't seem to be perfect. Some of the pencils seem to have a vein in the wood that is tougher than the rest which makes them difficult to sharpen without losing the point.

As for Dick Blick I think they do ship iinternationally and they send you an estimate before they ship and will only ship after your confirmation. I have yet to try them out but that is what it says on their site.

Absolutely lovely Lynx BTW!!

I don't like the Derwent "Coloursoft" so much. They are very soft but the colour has no good abrasion. D you know what I mean?
I like the Prismas much more although they are hard to get in Germany.
But my Favs are the Rembrandt Polycolor" by Lyra. They are oil-based, harder than the Prismas but have a very good abrasion - only on paper. Means they don't go down slow.

And the range of color is much better than the range of Drewent pencils. I can blend them very easily (there is a pencil called "splender" - like the blender of Prismacolor) and the colors are fresh and clear.
I can do several layers and it still looks good. Even if I do... biggrin.gif

But there is another pencil "Collection" I can recommend especially for a small money - the "Polycolor" of Koh-I-Noor. You have to buy the half and they are really very good! It is a pity that these pencils have no color-name on it, only a number. And the colors are not as good as Prisma or Rembrandt but much cheaper.

Cyn,
the zebras are wonderful. You said, you can't draw animals - now I want to see, WHAT you CAN draw . . .

Thank you so much. Like I said, I just got lucky. It even surprised me. laugh.gif I tried to draw a couple of horses before, so maybe that helped. I just wanted to do the stripes because they looked like so much fun. tongue.gif
As Laura says, I have to stop being afraid of the dark, so I thought the stripes would break me in to using colored pencils and using dark at the same time. rolleyes.gif

I fear the same thing and jeanette said the same thing to me .. I started going darker and really liked it much better ...i am so afraid of the dang eraser lol

I'm a day late. I drew this from another how to draw book. I'm going to ruin it if I keep trying to accomplish what I feel I didn't accomplish, but I put a lot of effort into it. Anyway... here it is. Thanks, Michelle
