Nellie
My name is Nellie, and I am your draw challenge host this week. I hope you will enjoy the pictures that I am going to put up for you. My stepson, I have tried to draw him before, but failed terribly. A few others, I didn’t want to put too many. It’s my first time, so I hope you all surprise me. You can use any medium, just not painting. I didn’t use any copyrighted materials. My own photo’s. Sorry I have edited the pictures hope it's smaller.

Enjoy

Hi all,

Wow great pctures Nellie......hmmm I am no good at portraits so I am taking a look at that fellow on the wall...or rather looks like he is looking at me...lol.....looks like some one has been..IPB Image

Cyn....nice to see your face. smile.gif

Night night, Brain.
Venus
biggrin.gif Nellie...Awesome pictures!! I of course love and am going to do the flower. I am sure everyone will love this challenge!! Can't wait to see how it turns out.

As for everyone else who was interested in drawing Cartoons, I have started a new thread called Imaginations Equal Cartoon Creations..It starts tomorrow and I think I have a pretty good thread going for people wanting to explore that imaginative side. There are sooo many new threads and wonderful threads I might add for exploring our artistic sides, I hope everyone will at least try each one out and give it a try. You never know which one will bring out that masterpiece we are all trying to acheive at some point. wub.gif

Nice Picture, Ted.......on typing paper? Ok...........

Probably the reason the challenge was started early was because she is in a different time zone than the USA. That would be my guess.
jonsie
Nellie,
Great choices for the challenge. I did however notice there wasn't any of your hubby's favorite subject!! tongue.gif wub.gif

Raphael - Great drawing. Much better than I did that's for sure.

Nellie - what is this flower? confused.gif Is a magnolia? It sure is large.

Here's my rendition of it.

[attachmentid=2842]

Done on sketch paper with 9b, HB, 2b Cretacolor Monolith Pencils. Graphite. These are great pencils they are really creamy and smooth like prisma color pencils. They are the woodless pencils and have a nice weight/feel to them.
kim1963
oh my gosh joanie .. awsome work hun .. I love the detail in the folds of the flower ..well done .
Brian David Dekter
Painter that is beautiful..

Rafael Nice sketch, and another great one Ted, I always admire your work.

Nellie , I tried a quick sketch of the fellow on the wall but I think I rushed it too much.....Brain. smile.gif
Venus
blush.gif Painter and Brian, both of you great job on the drawings!! You both captured great likenesses!!!

I decided to do the flower also, I used prismacolor pencils ( light gray, french gray, beige, yellow, burnt seinna, green, olive green, and white for the flower...flower pot was dark pink, light pink and magenta..background was magenta, raw umber and black) and on canson cool gray colored paper. I really like this paper, great textures for colored pencils and can do alot of layering!!!
Rafaelmarron
Venus your drawing is beautiful.

Painter the detail in the folds of the flower is very well.

Lori
Farfallina
WoW! there have already been some excellent drawings here.

Sorry I haven't gotten round to doing anything myself yet but I'm feeling the strain of all the hardwork I put in last week and I'm feeling a little under the weather. My left eye really hurt yesterday though I'm feeling a little better already for the rest I'm taking.

Maybe I'll be able to do something by the end of the week.

Nellie
I could not wait, here is my version. I used, HB, 2B, 4B, 6B, 8B. You can crit me if you want help me with my mistakes. Can't wait to see the others.

Get well soon Rose wave.gif
kim1963
myself I do like to critique ....I will be honest and say I love it and i mean it .. lol you have done a beautiful job on him ...your drawing is so soft ..what pencils do you use for the skin ?
Cyn
Everyone has such beautiful, professional stuff here, but not to let it go to your head, here is my beautiful, cartoony looking animal. laugh.gif At least I tried. I don't think animals are my forte'.. rolleyes.gif

Farfallina
Ah silly me!! rolleyes.gif I say I won't draw but the call of the pencils is just too much!

Sorry Nellie, my version of your little boy is not a terribly good likeness but personally I'm quite happy with it since it is totally freehand and eyeballed. Usually I use a grid but since this was just an exercise I tried out my hand without any safety net. biggrin.gif

So what's the little boy called?

[attachmentid=2896]

What Cyn said! - everyone has really done well already!!
painter48
Cyn - great job on the wildebeast. I'm not sure if I'll attempt him or not. LOL

Nellie - Just awesome - you are so talented in several mediums too. Your stepson is a little cutie. He'll be a heartbreaker when he grows up. hehehehe

Rose - Fantastic - you just couldn't rest could you? You really got the artbug "bad". Just don't overdue.

Brian - You did good on the beast - even if you don't think so, you could have drawn him as a cartoon.......LOL

Venus - Wonderful flower - that paper really sets it off.
jonsie
After looking at all the great work you all did, now I know, why I didn't do one, rolleyes.gif

Nellie, I thought for a minute, you'd reposted the original picture of your step-son!! Dang you're good girl!! wub.gif

Jonsie
kim1963
Cyn I give you so much credit for attempting that .. good job hun .
Rose beautiful job as always .
Brian David Dekter

Venus, I think you love to draw flowers, because, your own beauty is somehow relflected in every work you do. rolleyes.gif biggrin.gif May I ask, how did you get the background to look like that? It's so unique! Great job, as usual, course, I bet you get tired of hearing that huh? laugh.gif I am so blessed to be able to view all the artists here, and have the opportunity to ask questions too. Now, if I only had a brain................ blink.gif

Rafael,

I think, you did great to capture a very difficult subject. I looked at it when Nellie first posted, and thought it would be a challenge, but the more I looked, the more challenging it became, till finally, I decided to not accept the challenge, laugh.gif You did good my friend!

painter48
Whoa, Jonsie...................................Paulette is cracking that whip! She's right, you definitely can do it!
Venus
Rafael, I love the pond picture!! You did a great job.

Jonsie as for my backgrounds a use a solid color and then layer with more solid colors. Its actually pretty easy and normally turns out really pretty.

If you guys go look in the New Picture or Pictures thread I added my new butterfly and iris picture. blush.gif
kim1963
I saw it and it was breathtaking venus .. you really do a nice job at those flowers and the butterfly is so beautiful .
Venus
wub.gif Thanks Kim. I think I am going to do alot of different flowers and butterfly drawings and hang them in my bedroom.
kim1963
Thats a great idea ... very colorful also .. when framed I bet they will look awsome .
Nellie
