So, i know I haven’t posted here before,

I have been watching these forums for a wile… and then I thought I should post some of my new stuff on here. So, I am going to!

Anyways I am in high school and I am in a drawing class : )
And before this class, I only used pencil. Now in my class we started to use charcoal!!!
As soon I started to use it I feel in love with It : ) I can only imagine the effects your critique’s would have on my drawings!!

Anyway I would love to hear you views and comments on my art : )

(Sorry for being so, … well… generic tongue.gif )

Hey smile.gif,
Well it depends who you talk to… I would say that charcoal is difficult to control :|
Honestly, though I think your better off asking someone else smile.gif.
I only have some experience with this medium.
But then again last semester I took photography and I did not do ‘great’ in that class :/
In closing I leave you with this saying from my art teacher!!
“Don’t over blend your charcoal ”

Are you talking about the signature? It's the opening lyrics to a song by Disturbed. I checked out the website and they seem to do a lot of political, state of the world songs, like System of a Down does, and Rage Against the Machine did. They redid Phil Collins 'Land of Confusion', showing my age. tongue.gif

edit--
Sorry, it was Genesis, not just Phil. I thought of that last night when I remembered the video. That was way back when MTV actually played videos all day instead of a bunch of 'reality' shows and crap.

I work mainly with charcoal and love it. However It is hard to shade with charcoal the same way you do graphite. I use blending stumps and tortillions, chamios sometimes. I reccomend that you start out using wood bound charcoal(pencils) untill you get the feel of it.

Here is a link to some of my work. All of the portraits and anatomy studies are done with charcoal

Thanks UKartist and Kim. I love using charcoal, it gives better tones, blacker blacks. I have done some large works with charcoal sticks also but I perfer pencils.

Thanks about the nails too. I need to get seperate albums. blush.gif
