How do we sign up to get the newsletter that tells us the album of the week?

There are many questions about it in the General Discussions forums, but even the ones that get it, don't know how to sign up for it.. We have checked all the boxes and are out of options.

Thank you for the help..

Cyn,

Go to My Drawspace in your control panel; scroll down to options on the side menu (at the bottom)....click on email settings....check the box next to send me any updates by the board administration this will add you to the mailing list. Make sure you click the button at the bottom that adjusts your settings!!!!

Good luck!

We've discovered that a lot of the major e-mail providers out there block the newsletter at the server level, preventing the newsletter from even making it to a junk mail folder.

If you've followed the instructions listed above and still aren't getting the newsletter then this is most likely what is happening. There's really no way to avoid it. E-mail providers go to great lengths to sniff-out and trash automated e-mails.

Laura01
Is there an email- addy that we could add to our address books that would allow us to ensure that we would recieve the newsletter?

I saw the message today when logging in about how to get the newletter. I've had that box checked all along. I wrote to Road Runner tech support about how to get the newsletter. The setting they have for e-mail, that I can find, are on the lacking side -- not alot of options. When and if I ever hear anything useful back dry.gif , I'll post what they say about getting the e-mail.

I guess mine is being blocked also because I've had that box checked all along too.

My suggestion would be that the newsletter be posted as a thread in the forums so everyone can see it.

We don't have a complete list of all the ISP's that block the newsletter, but Hotmail and Gmail both seem to work fine.
Violinagin
It sends to Yahoo fine as well. At least, I got it.
darus67
I use Gmail and it works fine.
painter48
I use Yahoo and I don't get it.
Cyn
I carefully read everything that it says on "My Drawspace" and made sure it was set up correctly, and it already was. I use MSN and I still don't get it. They said they are not blocking it. Of course how much truth is there at MSN? laugh.gif

Here's what they said:

---------------Thank you for choosing Time Warner - Road Runner E-mail Technical
Support.

I understand you're having problems with the receipt of e-mail messages
from certain addresses.

I can certainly address this issue for you.

Whenever an e-mail server is unable to deliver a message, it will
provide a 'returned undeliverable' e-mail notice to the sender. This
undeliverable notification will indicate the reason the e-mail could not
be sent and it usually includes a link to a website which provides
further information.

You should contact those that cannot send e-mail to you to find out if
they've received an undeliverable notice. If they have, and it indicates
the message was blocked for spam related reasons, inform them they
should have their Internet Service Provider visit
http://security.rr.com/mail_blocks.htm for information on how to remove
the block.

You may also check to see if the outgoing SMTP server of a sender is
being blocked by Road Runner at
http://security.rr.com/amIBlockedByRR.htm . To use this online tool, you
will need to have the IP address of the SMTP server that the sender is
using.

If the tool indicates that the block is a SpamHaus Block List (SBL) or
MAPS RBL-Plus mail block, the sender will need to go to the websites for
these lists and follow their policies for requesting removal. The
website addresses for these two lists are:

SpamHaus Block List - http://www.spamhaus.org/lookup.lasso
MAPS RBL-Plus - http://www.mail-abuse.com/removereq_rbl.html

If the tool shows that the IP address's PTR record shows up as
'NXDOMAIN' or 'SERVFAIL', Road Runner's mail servers will reject your
mail regardless of your appearance on any of the lists we use, as per
our Inbound Sending Policy available at http://security.rr.com/spam.htm.
If this applies to your situation, contact your ISP or hosting provider
and request that they make sure your mail server's IP address has a
valid PTR record for reverse DNS.

If the reason listed on the undeliverable notice is not related to a
spam block, the sender should contact their Internet Service Provider
for further assistance.

If the sender does not receive a returned undeliverable message within
24 hours of sending the e-mail that you did not receive; it may be that
the message never left their computer. It's also possible your e-mail
program may have message rules setup to block e-mail meeting certain
criteria. Please check such settings in your own e-mail program and
contact those you're having trouble receiving from to suggest they do
the same. Additionally, disable any spam filtering software if you run
any on your computer.

If you have any further questions or problems, please feel free to
e-mail us again for further assistance. When replying to this address,
please include this message as well as all previous correspondence
regarding this issue.

Thank you for choosing Time Warner - Road Runner and have a great
evening!
Time Warner - Road Runner Technical Support Department.
