Brian, I hope you recover soon. Ask your doctor for likes of vicodin and you should be fine before you know it. Don't let it hold you off to long, its just knee surgery you still have the usage of your hands!!

Soo I better be seeing more of those wonderful cartoons you draw, WITHOUT any excuses!!

Remember, that even if you don't like pain medication, that you will heal much faster with it, because it helps your poor body kick up the healing power. Trust me on this. I hate meds and have lot's o experience with knees.

You get all of my best wishes and all the comfort I can send over the internet....

Whatever you do, don't mix Vodka and Vicodin.

Pain killers do not speed up the recovery ... but it does take the pain away or close to it .. I found that Vicodin will not always take all pain away .. Motrin 800 is good for some kinds of pain ..or Vodko LOL
Nope, the pain pills don't heal anything they just help slow the pain so that your bodys pain receptors aren't overworked and your poor body stands a chance of healing itsself better. Kind of like sleeping. Your body heals best from a trauma when you're sleeping.
My boyfriend was in a coma for 8 months from severe injuries and when he woke up, they put him back to sleep. Now they call him the miracle boy. I just call him really lucky.

But the first thing the dummy did when they finally let him wake up was have someone sneak him out for a cigarette. Anyway, he did once he remembered who he was and that he used to smoke.
Today is Brians surgery. Does anyone know if he is an out patient or if they are keeping him in the hospital?
And Kim, I think he almost cried when he saw your beautiful card.. You're a doll...

Almost all knee surgery is outpatient these days and much less invasive than open knee surgery used to be. I would imagine Brian's to be the same. Most surgeries involve laparoscopy which is much less traumatic to the joint and surrounding tissue.
I only know this because my husband has had the surgery done five times. Don't ask...
Thanks Jeanette. I wasn't sure if Canada is the same as the U.S..
I had the arthroscopy the first two times and the arthrotomy the next two times, all as outpatient. Your poor husband sure has me beat. Bless his heart..
I still fall sometimes, or stumble and lock up, but I won't let people see me limp so I just tell them I'm clumsey.

I sure can't afford to have knee replacements so I just stagger along.

I'm just really grateful I'm still on my own 2 feet. An uninsured drunk driver made a left turn in front of my sports car and broke my knees on the dash and one elbow on the floor shift and bruised my heart and lungs on the steering wheel. (Brand new car but no air bag requirements in '85) Lots of fun..
I sure hope our Brian recuperates rapidly..

Well cyn is right I had to reach for the tissue's when I saw this.....You are all the best friends anyone could ask for not to mention all talented artists.....I thank all of you for your wishes......My surgery went well and was 1 hour long , I was only in the hospital a half day I am now out .........I can not walk too well yet and need to use a cain ....I took Cyn's advice on the pain meds they are helping me get through this.....But my friend Davidb, that is not a bad idea about the Vodka....lol....but hey I woke up to two beautiful nurses and that helped me take my mind off the pain.......lol

Well I am still very drousey so I will go rest....hope to be back soon
Kim , I made a copy of your card it is hanging in my Drawspace area, ....I absolutly love it ...love the little mouse in the matches and my sketches around the wall.....you are a real sweetheart to do this and I thank you with all my heart..
All the best, Brian.

Cyn you made me laugh again I like the smiley guy....lol
Stupid me I was a little too active today

Our power was knocked out in our building for 6 hours and managed to walk up and down 4 flights of stairs with my cain in hand and then realized I opened my wounds and quicly had to change the dressings....other then that I am feeling much much better today.....

Have a great day everyone, Brain.
