I wish I had a creative corner a bunch of art stuff. I think that would be a great birthday gift. A mini art desk (or my desk is fine) with loads of different art supplies.
oliverandjazz
just grab yourself a box or compartmented bag, throw some goodies in there, and purchase a couple different size clip boards, I have a mini clip board from the dollar store i use when i work on ATC's outdoors, I have a medium size one and a huge one, I just take the one i need to work outside on my swing..

Amazon have Inktense for reasonable price. I just bought a set of 12 as I'd spent quite a lot on other colour pencils. I'm really enjoying them.

I haven't posted much on these forums yet, but I loved seeing everyone's "bits" and thought it only fair that I show mine. I use a small spare bedroom as my studio/craft/sewing room. The room is way too small for all of the stuff I have in there so it is usually in a state of disarray. I took the first pic on a fairly normal day...there's stuff everywhere that needs to be put away. The next two pics were taken on one of those extremely rare occasions when everything was put away. The pic of my drawing board shows some of my pencils: one set of Prismascolors, my Caran d'Ache Pablos, some graphite pencils, and some markers. I've got quite a bit more squirreled away, though, because I am a pencil addict.

I'll post mine tomorrow. I just painted the room today and it's a mess but I guess I suppose that I can take a pic of the mess. I would like to take a pic of the view also.

This is an awesome thread. Love seeing other peeps creative corners. I'll post my bits soon too.

I'm incredibly jealous of all of your spaces. I'm in a transitional period right now, so my creative space is limited to a sketch book and a bag of pencils. Within the next few months, I should be back in full form, though, and I'll be sure to share when that happens.

I've not been on here in quite a while but have been reminded in this thread and others in a quick browse today how lovely it is to see what people from all walks of life (age, sex, employment, location etc etc) have to say about their lives, loves hates etc etc.

I work from home and one bedroom is devoted to being my offce-***-art-space and I overlook school playing fields so it's a nice view. It's then quite surreal to read about Texaslady drawing from a truck that needs to be able to outrun a bear. Bizarre!!!

So my 'bits' are my desk with laptop and a separate monitor screen so I can use 2 screens which is handy as I work with figures and look from screen to screen. To the side of it I have an IKEA workstation which was too small to work from hence the desk, but I can store lots on it including the printer, hi-fi and other work related stuff. I have to be quite disciplined and keep just work stuff on my desk but it's big enough to put that to one side when I want to do some drawing and all my art stuff is on a book case behind me so I can easily find what I want. I don't mix the two and find that having an open bookcase (which also has my books, CD's and DVD's) means I have to keep it reasonably tidy. If had cupboards or drawers it would be a mess.

I have an angle poise lamp with a daylight bulb whch is great for the gloomy days and over the winter when it's getting dark her any time from 15:30 and I'm working until 18:00 and great for being able to draw under as well.

I start my 3rd term of an NCFE Level 1 drawing class tonight and I have loved every minute. I had a dabble in water-colours and enjoyed it although I was never really drawn to painting and prefer pencil, charcoal and pastels but nothing ventured nothing gained as they say. My current project is a picture of an elderly aunt who is no longer with us. My tutor says I should submit it in the final assessment as my 'masterpiece' but it's nowhere good enough for my liking yet. My problem with portraits is never been able to make people look as old as they really are so if you ever want to commission me for a really flattering portrait . . . !!! I've enjoyed doing Auntie Edie as it brought back many memories of what a character she was. In England we'd say she was eccentric but further afield it would be 'crazy'. She once painted a metal bedstead whilst my Mum was still fast asleep in the bed. In the reference photo she a very broad smile and I'm struggling to get her false teeth the right shape and pearly white as it's coloured pastel paper. It's not helped by my giggling - I can hear a voice in my head saying "I paid a lot of money for those teeth so you need to get them whiter than that!!"

So when I get to the point it actually looks like Auntie and not just an elderly lady you may get to see it. Off to get my bag together now and the set off. It's been nice catching up with you all and I'll have to visit more often.

Thank you Kay that is sweet to say ...I never liked my eyes lol big and wide set lol .

Ncgirl I think that is awsome ...of course I would not be able to do that I drive a car and its packed with kids or friends of my kids most of the time ...but that is very cool .. I saw the studio in progress and that will be awsome when that is done .

Ok I just found something out .. I was eating a low fat Mesquite barbecue chips...and I told my husband they were good .. he informed me that the flavor comes from a tree called the Mesquite ...I was kinda grossed out by that ...and swore to not eat them again ( I do not eat trees) then he informed me that Maple surup comes from a maple tree ...that was something I did not know .. he ask me how i got this far in life without knowing you get maple surup from a maple tree ...I said I have no clue how he was brought up by my mom bought it at the supermarket ....I must have no common sence lol please tell me this is news to others out there ?? Im feeling alone on this lol

If I remember rightly then only a few places and brands actually make Maple Syrup with (the sap I think) of a Maple tree, most companies just mix up a load of chemicals and market it as Maple Syrup.

Not quite ready to post my working environment just yet, mainly because I'm not working in it at the moment, the internet has gone down on my computer (I'm forcing myself not to jump to conclusions about who's fault THAT is) so I've hijacked (the person to blame...or not's) computer and am working in his office, he's not here at the moment but once he returns I shall photograph my usual workspace with all my assorted crud in it for all to see.
Nerine
Hi everybody, smile.gif

Great to see your bits. There is no need for tidying up before showing. It would make the bits unreal.
Look at my office for instance…
It’s way too tidy, everybody can see nobody is working here.

I am very fortunate to be able making a lot of special spots for all my different projects.
Let’s show you around.

First I'll invite you in my office. Maybe Library is a better name for it. This is the place where I keep my most popular books. It's too dark and mostly to cold to work here so my visits to it, are reduced to pick up the books I need and lay back the ones I have finished for the time being.
The collection changes with my activities. These are the books I use regular at this moment. The rest is piled up in banana boxes waiting for a real bookcase to come. (More than one in fact)

The next picture is my drawspace. This place is light (during summer), warm, clean and a mess (whole year around). Exactly what I need for comfortable drawing.

When we go up we come in the wheelhouse where my writingspace is situated. This is the place where I work when we are traveling around the rivers and the canals. Here I can see all around me so I don't have to miss any interesting event for my book “The Adventures with the Kraggenburg”. In between all the big and little jobs during sailing I write on it. The engine makes the ship vibrating too much for my drawings and there is no time and possibility for other big projects then.

As some of you know, I'm rebuilding a small passenger ship. During that process I use this ship for workspace as well.

The old kitchen is a perfect place to bake oil buns for the New Year as well as preparing the wax models for the bronze foundry. I made them once in our kitchen, brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr that stinks. I won’t do that again.

I use the old living as a workspace for all kind of dusty, dirty and noisy things like stone carving, clay modeling, plaster, metal and wood.

The light is good and when I get cold I can lit my cozy fire. It’s a pleasure to work here.

Finally, where the day ends it starts as well…
In my bunk.
This is my thinkspace.
It is the place where I solve theoretical problems of my projects so I practically can go on in the daytime. It is also the place where most of my ideas are being born.

Looking forward to see some more bits
See you all biggrin.gif
