this is an amazing piece of work people have told me i draw good but after seeing this piece i have gone back and noticed flaws in all my work and am working on the crosshatching technique.
green-monkey
That is an amazing piece of artwork

and I also like it because of the depth that you put into the way it "looks at you"

i hope i can draw like that sometime soon

You're tutorial was very informative. I'm not the best when it comes to figure drawing and this really helped me out a lot. I hadn't drawn the human eye the way you did and it really helped me get the right dimensions.

thanks again for this great tutorial!

By doing this lesson, my skill in drawing eyes has spiked from average to advanced! This lesson has increased my ability to draw faces in general over the two hours it took me to complete it. It is amazingly illustrated. This is the first lesson I did from this site, I am impressed by what I saw. I now take regular visits to this site every day to await any new additions! The entire site has some amazing lessons, but this has always been my favorite.

I hope this site continues to flourish and I am always excited for a new lesson! (I am waiting in particular for an Advanced lesson for drawing faces side view, preferrably male... but I know just a random comment isn't going to get miss Hoddinott to draw one up for my sake... but anywho...)

Great site, wonderful lessons, overall A+.

Useful lesson. I tend to forget there's a face around the eyes, so eyes look quite pretty but seem attached to a plain face. Thanks for the inspiritation. It'll be a long hard way to reach half of the intensity of "your" eye but it's a nice challenge.

Looking forward for the other eye... biggrin.gif

Really nice tutorial. Teaches you a lot about shading, facial geometry and the ability to create a certain 'depth' in your pictures.

I learned a lot from this tutorial. Great work Brenda!

I really thank you Ms Brenda, because after having looked at your tutorial I found out a new hope to improve with drawing.
I have never studied drawing with a good teacher and I thought I have to give up.
Thanks to you and your desire of sharing your fantastic skills I feel so good!!!!!!
Drawing is marvellous and improve step by step gives me joy.
Best regards. Silvia from Milan

This is the first lesson I have tried on from this website. Ms. Brenda, thank you! I can't believe how much detail I was able to obtain using this lesson. I have never used crosshatching to draw facial features and I really noticed a large improvement in my artwork. I even let the kids (one is mine and the rest are here for childcare) sit around while I was working and they created quite nice eyes (without the detail obviously) for 6, 7, and 9 year olds. Tomorrow I plan to do a child level lesson so they can play along. As much as I love to draw they have never had an interest until now. Thank you so much. I can't wait to move on to more lessons!
