In this weeks challenge there is a car to be drawn.
Much as I like to draw it I tried it three times - but

*grmmlbrpf* the result is worse!
Maybe it is because I don't like cars.
My question: Can you draw things you don't like or do you have problems with that too?

I draw things better if they are really complex. It just jumps my brain into 'right brain' activity. If I don't find the subject matter challenging, I do it horrible! I'm working on it.
I'm not sure about hating things or not. I don't much care for dogs and I did that challenge, but I don't really hate the way dogs look. *scratches head*

Martina, I can draw things I don't like to a certain extent. If its not something that I have my heart into such as my butterflies, or flowers, or birds or what not then I have a hard time. It usually take quite a few tries to get it right for me too. It just takes alot of practice and patience is all. Don't give up and let the photo win, keep trying you will adventually get it to come out decent enough.

Everyone has images that appeal to them more or challenge them more. If you can draw one thing well or enjoy drawing it, you can, technically draw other things equally as well. Its really a mind over matter issue. You don't like the subject so your brain shuts off a little and tells you you don't like it which hinders your progress.
I sometimes have to draw commissions which I don't like and I simply look at them as a series of sections of light and shadow to get my mind around it.
It's more difficult for me to sketch something I'm not interested in. But forcing my self to do this has helped me to enjoy drawing things I'm not interested in.

I can't draw buildings, mechanical humans (I mean the kind with any form of complexity beyond the outer shell, A.K.A. beneath the "skin."), or women. It's not like I don't like the last two, but I got in trouble in a high school art class for attempting to draw them, and my parents are paranoid about my drawing the female creature.
But, I think the answer as to why most people can't draw what they don't like is that they almost never practice what they don't want to draw, so they never get anywhere with it, so when they try to draw it, they crash and burn.
Hows that?

Its hard for me also .. I agree with jeanette you can get around it by doing sections of the drawing ..I myself like the horn in the challenge but I have tried it over and over and just cant seem to get it ..so even when I do like the subject I still find I cant draw it .
