A complex grid assists with the setting up of proportions for this drawing of a beautiful, seventeen- year-old lady named Evie. Two reference photographs provide adequate information for modifying the composition and light source, and rendering diverse shading techniques to define various textures and furry patterns.

Hello Brenda.
just wondering how long exactly do you spend on your advanced final drawings and how do you actually do the hatching, are they done very slowly, or very fast and sharp barely touching the paper. please i need all the help you can give. WKINGTURNER@YAHOO.CO.UK
p.s you are my favorite pencil drawing artist and i am not just saying it, you are an artist.

God bless yer cotton socks - thank you!

When I did this drawing last year, Evie was 18 years old (as you can no doubt tell by her face). In late December, Evie passed away; she was almost 19! This drawing is now framed and hanging in my living room.

The drawing of Evie took about 3-4 days - a week if you include the scanning and preparation of the lesson (grin). My hatching style for a typical advanced project is slow and methodical. Many of the advanced projects are subjects I wanted to do for myself. They are mostly designed to simply show other artists how I draw. However, as you can see from beginner and some intermediate projects, I can also draw hatching very loosely and quickly.

This website and writing curriculum and lessons is pretty much a full time job.

Thank you again for your kind words!
Brenda
