Hello everyone,
I am putting up a new schedule for challenge hosts. Please inform me in this thread if you are interested in taking one of the weeks.

The process of hosting is simple. Find 3 -5 reference images. The images should be your own photographs that are copyright free. Keep in mind artistic composition, contrast and clarity when choosing images for drawing.

The Drawing Challenges will be for a one week period.

Once you have decided on your photos, upload them onto your Drawing Challenge thread and monitor the challenge during the week. Its that simple.

I am keeping the schedule as is. I thought we would go in 2 month blocks and have a couple of people in reserve, just in case something comes up for someone. Listings with a line through them indicate drawing challenges that have been completed. People can however still participate in them and add drawings if they wish.

I'd be glad to host one at any time. I have thosands of reference photos that I took with my digital camera. Landscapes, snow scenes, barns, and just about everything. :-)

I'm going to up load more as soon as I swrink them some. :-)

I'll be glad to help once my camera comes in (Digital Rebel XTi!) We just ordered it and as soon as I get it I'll try and get some nice pictures to use for a challenge. I'll have to get some of you to check 'em out to make sure they're up to par. This is my first real camera ever. Not sure how it'll all turn out.

It should be in by (if I counted right) Friday, and definitely by May so I can take one of those weeks . Yeah, the only other camera I've ever had was a Polaroid when I was 10 or so. I wasn't counting that =P. I got my art teacher to help me pick out one that would be good for me to learn on, yet still be good enough for it be worth all the money. I'm so excited! (I've been bouncing around since we bought the thing. I can't wait!)

I put you in on May 13-19. I have a Canon power Shot S2 IS I love it. It is what we could afford out of the canon line. I know you will love the Rebel my brother owns one, it is even more amazing than ours. I will expect exceptional pictures from you. So you better do lots of practicing.

Have you ever felt like the preacher was looking directly at you as he gave his sermon..........Well I kind of feel like Ms. Janette was talking directly to me so I will put up my hand and try to give back some of the enjoyment I have received from this site. You can put me down for a spot as host of a challenge.

Do you need to post pictures for the challenge? If so, I'll have to wait a while before I can host.

You get the last spot May 27- June 2nd. Thank God for preachers and teachers. Don't worry you'll love it. If I could come up with enough pictures I would hog all the spots myself. This is one of my favorite things to do.

Okay all the spots are filled for this next set. I will contact you before your week to make sure you are ready to go. I will answer any questions at that time. In the mean time you need to find 3-5 pictures of your own.
1. There should be no blurry areas, except artistic (like Kims gun and bullets), the pictures need to be sharp.
2. When you put the picture in grayscale, you should see a full range of tonal values, (black thru white) not a general shade of grey.
3. There should be no flash used (unless you are a professional photographer and know how to light a picture), natural light is preferable.
4. The subject should be on its own (no clutter in the background), a grouping should be pleasing to the eye. Grouping are not my thing, but I am guessing you want things that are tall as well as low, that sit forward as well as in the background. Check some examples.
5. Look back at past challenges, see what went over well and what was of no interest, look at the pictures and try to decide why they were interesting or why they were not.
6. Bring your unique spin on the world into it. A trip, a hobby, a talent, a job, your location, your family and friends etc.
7. You need 3-5 pictures, they should be varied, just like our drawspace people are varied. One person is going to think your grandbaby is so-o cute, another is going to think uh-h not another kid. If all the pictures are of your beautiful grandbaby then more than half of the people will not draw that week.
8. Pictures need to be no more than 200kb, keep them close to this also as the picture has to be big enough to see.

These are very good suggestions. I hope everyone reads them and observes them.

I have a question oh. With the .jpeg files, I assume you want us to check them on the disk? I've noticed that they are larger while uploading than what they check on the disk. I'm sure the reason is 'compression'. The file on the disk is compressed but in RAM a file is much larger, and during upload or when someone opens it.

Oh, by the way, I have my five already to upload!

I am afraid you totally lost me on your question. Maybe someone else can answer that. My pictures are on the computer as JPEG files. When I want to put a picture on drawspace I use my camera program (zoombrowser from Canon) I export the picture to a drawspace file and tell it to resize during export. Unfortunately that is specific to my program. ???

I am going to send that list to everyone that is going to host. I can't wait to see your picks.
