This is a thread in which you are invited to recycle old artwork, discarded pieces, practice scraps in order to create a new whole, a new art work.
The art of collage is very very old and one can find more information on Wikipedia's entry on Collage.
or these very good sites:

My example of a recent artwork is this cheerful tulip collage.

How was it born? Out of a mistake, of course.I painted tulips in tempera on canvaskin paper, over the underpainting I used oil pastels but when it was to do a background i got very poor results. So I cut out the tulips and glued them on Bristol Board blue green color. I loved the contrast and added some Easter grass for more dramatic effects in color. Then on the oil pastel surface of flowers and leaves i sprinkled some glitter. Voila!
My new piece was born.

Now it's your turn to share some artwork that can be turned into a collage.
Waiting with interest to see some cool stuff in this thread.

Elena, this sounds like a fun project! I'll have to look thru my sketch books for some unfinished pieces and rejects - there's plenty for me to choose from! happy.gif

About collage, this is a tableau of a great Vietnamese artist, Lam Chieu Dong.

Here is his site:

May be you do not understand vietnamese, but you can see, through the pages, a lot of beautiful collages.
LCD has another site now, but more for poems and writing than for collages.

Thank you, An. I will take a look.

The piece that you posted is one the best of this artist. But I visited the site and his works don't look to me as real collages, i.e. bits and pieces of different kinds glued together.Rather paintings within paintings.

Two collages of the Girl with pearl earring.
Construction paper, cut outs of printed image of my drawing, paper ribbon.
The second one is with cutouts of the Vermeers portrait(eyes and pearl earring).
