Hi everyone,

I think all of us have a drawing that we love exceptionally for any reason. Because it was very difficult to draw and you are proud that you managed it. Or it took a long time to finish it or the object was fun to draw or whatever.

All the phantastic drawings of the challenges or the other thread inquired me so please show us your fav.
Farfallina
Martina - that is a very interesting question. smile.gif

Personally I don't have one particular favourite. I consider all my drawings like offspring. Some I like because they just flowed naturally and effortlessly. Some I love for the subject matter. Some others because they were particularly difficult but I persevered through the many feelings of failure. Yet some others because the final result was better or at least different than what I expected when I first set out. Even the not so good ones are my offspring like a less than perfect child. They were all learning experiences.

What I'm trying to say is that my reasons are all very subjective so probably the most objective criterion to go by is how well received the end result was by others generally.

Applying that criterion (and also my own feelings about it) I think this would be it:

There was a thread done on a similar topic - your favourite drawing from 2006. A search in the general discussions should locate it.
Traumsonne
Jeanette,

I know this.
But there are so many newcomer like me who became a member in 2007.
And possibly there are people who have a fav drawing from earlier years.

Is it a problem that I started this new thread?
paulette4
I would think no problem, just information.
The one I am using as my avatar right know is my favorite. It didn't turn out right, his chin is supposed to be pointing up and I couldn't make it look like that. And the proportions of his face are not quite right. Every time I look through my stuff it is the one that draws my eye. So it is my favorite.

I have to say the quickest drawing I did is my most favorite ... no clue as to why it went so quick but I did it under a hour and half .
IslanderNL
No, there isn't a problem with a new thread on this Martina. I was simply passing on information that others may like to access.
Traumsonne
Okay, fine Jeanette! smile.gif Btw - do you have a favorite drawing? I know I am nosy, but we all learn from the masters.... wink.gif

Rose, I like your Ingrid Bergmann Portrait very much.

Paulette, every time I see your avatar I think 'what a cute little boy.' (I think it is a boy.) Does he belong to your family?

Here is my favorite one. I don't have a big choice yet biggrin.gif but this one makes me happe when I look at because it is the first time that metal looks like metal and not like wobble pudding.

darus67
Ok. I have to know.
What is Wobble Pudding??

Could you please explain it for us ignorant Americans, Martina?

Oh, and I think you did a great job drawing the can & pencils. I noticed the hash marks around the edge of the can, from the can opener. Good attention to detail.

Ok. I have to know.
What is Wobble Pudding??

*laughin* It is kind of jelly pudding made from water, jelly, sugar and some flavor. You can have it in green or red and if you bump against the table or if you try peek your spoon into that pudding it starts bouncing.

And Darus - Thanks for that nice compliment!

Hi, Martina,
That is my son Douglas, it only sort of looks like him. tongue.gif
I like your can you did a good job of it. We call it Jello, which is a name band.
Rose and Kim, great picks from both of you.

Nick,
Welcome to Drawspace. Your picture isn't here. I assume you mean the iron man in your gallery? It looks very good.

Nearly every drawing that I complete is my favourite at some point. Some that have a more personal meaning to me are one's I like or one that challenged me and made me think can be a favourite too. So this drawing of my youngest daughter is probably one of my favourites. Its a portrait done in circulism that taught me a lot.

Traumsonne
Jeanette,
have you drawn the hair also with circulism?

KIM,
this is amazing!!!!! How old is this baby? Born too early - with 6,5 months? and is it well now?
IslanderNL
No, hair is never drawn with the circulism technique, it just wouldn't work. Its all individual lines drawn in the direction of the hair growth.

Eh, I can't upload any of my pictures due to some restrictions of the computer(s) I use, combined with the fact that I am without a flatbed scanner. But I can describe it pretty well.

It's a rough sketch, with many eraser marks and scribbly lines. It started as a simple stick-figure skeleton, who then was given thicker bones, then small muscles, then basic outlines of skin. Layers of clothing are as follows; underwear (tighty-whities), wetsuit (covers hands and feet), trousers/long sleeved shirt/socks, jumpsuit/combat boots, underplates, overplates. The result is a person in modern clothing, dressed like a knight.

Long, boring explaination, I know, but it's the best I can do without the proper tools and such.

tongue.gif Here's my newest (finished last night as a matter of fact) pencil drawing. Its just a rough draft though, I think. I want to do it over on better paper. Of course, it being a dolphin which is my favorite animal helps for it being my favorite drawing as of late. I used strathmore sketch paper for it but its a cheap low grade quality that I just didn't care for when I was doing the work. Thank God, this week is payday week and we are getting our taxes done this weekend, I get to go buy my new drawing table I have wanted for ages and buy new drawing paper. (Thats all I want for now.) tongue.gif

This is my favorite recent drawing:

[attachmentid=3463]

I like it because it there's a nice "softness" about it; he looks very huggable, and at the same time, I think I captured his intense concentration on the task at hand. But like every drawing, I see lots of things I could improve.

This is a thumbnail for a portrait that will be one of a series of the members of the band my husband plays drums for. I'm not sure if this will be the pose....a few more thumbnails will help me make my choice.

Right now this one is my favorite...that's the way I usually am....whatever I'm working on is my favorite....unless it goes reeeeeaaaally bad....hehehehe

[attachmentid=3464]

This scanned as a large file for clarity, but the actual size of the thumbnail is about 3 x 3 inches. I may have to rescan this on my old scanner...eeeek
