Full Version: My print outs are slight blue.

Both my scanner and my printer turn the pictures slightly (cool) blue. My graphite drawings are slightly warm (brown or sepia).

I'd like to do a print out that is as warm as my graphite drawing and not blue like an ink drawing.

I can load my (cool) scan into PSP and turn it sepia or orange. I can only do this before I grawshade it.

But still when I warm the sketch it has blue where it should be white when I print it. Grrr!

I've even tried taking the colored ink cartridge out, but then the print out is pale, but still don't have the warmth of graphite.

Does anyone have any suggestions, (except for buying a better printer)?

I don't have any solutions for you on this problem, but I know its common. In some graphics programs you can make the background of your image white which may help. Just how to do it I don't know.

Home printers aren't the greatest for printing images and shadowing is very common. You really need to take it to a professional printer or photographer to get a clear crisp image to work from if you want to print copies at home.

BRB,

Check to see if you have an option to print images in black and white on your printer.

I scan my pictures...grayscale them and then I select the black and white option on my printer so that elliminates color ink in the printing.
As long as I have plenty of ink I'm good to go.

Hope this helps,
Laura

Thanks everyone. I may have to do an upgrade on my printer and scanner. It does fine detail photos, but I've never been satisifed with the contrast and the colors aren't true. Blue has always been predominate as long as i have a color cartridge in.

I can grayscale it in the PSP program, but I can't find anything like that in the HP printer setup program.

Can't really help you but from what you wrote it seems that you are printing in colour. Can't you set your printer to print in grayscale? I can do that with mine even if the picture I am printing is a colour photo.

Do you mind telling me what brand and model you bought? I have a HPscanjet 3970. I can tolerate the blueing if it don't get worse.

I'm more interested in a printer that will print the picture like I see it on my computer screen.
