i bought this drawing kit yesterday and it had tortillions and kneaded earasers and all that in but what would the piece of leather and the sandpaper have to do with it....i dont know how to use them or what they are for so i thought i would ask....

The sandpaper is for sharpening pencils to a chisel point. The piece of leather, I don't know.

The leather is a chamois. You use it for blending. If it gets dirty you can wash it in warm soapy water and it will stay soft for a while. Eventually it will harden and would need to be replaced. It's very good for giving you really smooth blending.

And with the sandpaper you can also sharpen and clean the tortillion.
