I have time today, but this beautiful girl makes me desesperate, because, despite my effort (grid, care, and eraser), she refuses to resemble to my drawing. May be the lips are too small? Where are the other problems ?

I too made a drawing of the chinese girl. And my drawing doesn't look very much like the girl on the picture. But does it really matter when you have enjoyed making the drawing and end up with a beautiful drawing? unfortunately I don't have the possibility to scan the drawing right now, but I will show you later.
@ An: I like your drawing very much, I love the eyes. I find the resemblence quite good

An, Your interpretation of the Chinese Girl is very beautiful! You gave her a sad and melancholic look!
As for the improvement suggestions, I cannot help you... but I just noticed that you captured perfectly the structure of the Chinese nose!
Nancy, your cat is beautiful, specially the fur!

An your girl is lovely, the girl in the pic is gorgeous and while a persons drawing may not exactly resemble the ref, it is the inspiration she has instilled in you artist to want to capture her beauty..She has been an inspiration hasnt she?

You are right, Twentse-student! Some people here have more experience than others, but I think everybody enjoy drawing, and I'm really happy. Do you have a digital camera ? You can take the photo and post it here. If you have any pb, we can help.

Very beautiful, Nancy! I love the fur. The head also was well rendered. I see you like cats and have experience in drawing cat. People told me that to have equivalent age in men, one must multiply cat age by about 4-5. So your cat was 104-130 years old.

Hey, folks, anyone has seen Trish around ?
Hi An,
I am here, and just having a look at the pictures again to decide which to draw.... I know, it is kinda late in the challenge to just be starting but that is me, a perpetual procrastinator. In fact I was going to join the International Procrastinator's society but decided to put it off till next week!

Thanks for looking out for me, and for the added encouragement.
Best wishes,
Trish

It’s now Saturday night. The week is over, so quickly. I wish to thank all of you, who has so wonderfully contributed to this challenge, by posting or by visiting.
We have benefited of 64 posts, 18 drawings (or paintings), and more than 2600 visits. The drawings (paintings) are of very high quality, and the comments particularly friendly. I hope that everybody has taken pleasure to visit and to participate.
Here are the 18 artworks. Our friend TRISH could not post her contribution in time. I have reserved a place for her, by inserting, for the moment, a photo of the Dior’s garden. Welcome to TRISH. You can come when you want!
You can continue to comment here. But, from Sunday, please draw on the photos of the new challenge. I don’t know our new host yet. I send to him (her) my best wishes and my warmest regards.
An
Sunday early : Formidable: here is TRISH. I remember when I saw the photo, I liked it very much. TRISH has given a cheerful interpretation of the scene. Simple and nice. Delicate lines and neat partition of light and shadows. What to say more ? I added her work, keeping the welcome photo as a souvenir.

Ooops! I know I am late, but I got behind schedule. Here is my effort at the boat. Boy! Am I out of practice. This is a mixture of graphite, water-soluble graphite in various degrees, 2b, 4b, 6b, 8b also, carbon pencil, watercolor and white pen. Oh and white charcoal too. Done in my Moleskine sketchbook. Phew, I think that is all I used. Thanks to An, for the encouragement, and the great pictures to work from.
Regards to all,

You are right, Kay,
Awesome aquarella, Songsparrow! I feel that you took pleasure to paint it.
It is time for me to post my pastel version. It is not very brillant. Watercolour is much more brillant than pastel, in general.
However, here it the pastel.
Thank to all of you,

oh that saddens me to hear An, I so enjoyed your work, I know I dont critique, but some of us are not cut out for that..I am sorry to say I am one, I guess it is a fault of mine, that I try to work on, but I am soft hearted and wouldn't dream of hurting someone's feelings, which is always my fear.

Oh, what a beautiful drawing! This is really a good portrait. The lighting is very delicate and you achieved it very well. About the resemblance, may be some very minor details can be improved, but I do know that this beautiful face is very difficult to draw. (I was not happy with my trial!) Congratulations, Twentse-Student!
(there is no time limit to draw any photo in this DS. It is only advised to draw photos from the new challenge at the beginning of the week to welcome the new host. Otherwise, you draw what you want when you want ! I am happy to welcome you in th Gallery!)

Click to view attachmentYes, Kay! Drawing portrait in WC is a real challenge! You approach the subject quite well, but this girl is really difficult to draw! I also continue when I have some moment. I feel i'm not that much far from her, but it is not her! She must be 5-10 yr younger than my drawing, I'll post again later!

Thank, Kay, thank Sonia. Yes, this beautiful girl makes me nervous, because I can't draw her. I'll add some hair in the back, Kay. As people seems to continue on the photos (I do, but slowly), I decided to open a second gallery for post-week drawings, the first is already full (in quantity and quality,

Wow, NVA (An is your name?) You are indeed very close! It is a beautiful drawing. But I also like the one in watercolours, especially the 'brigthness' (is that an English word?) of the colours. I tried to work with waterpaint a couple of times, but it just keeps on getting a big mess on my painting and in my close surroundings
Is the chinese girl a friend of the person that took the picture? That way we can contact her and she can have a look at the beautiful drawings and paintings people have made of her. I can image she would feel very honoured.
