I still feel rotten about mine being so horribly late, but I'm extremely relieved that some of you have started to recieve them. I stayed out of the bird trade on purpose because of my holiday, (a working one I might add, not much of a holiday at all), but I'm hoping it is still ok to join future trades. I'm signed up as hostess for the trade after Sue; does anyone have any objection to that after mine were so late this time? I won't be offended, since it was my own forgetfulness that caused the extra lateness when I left for several weeks.
As far as my opinion on the blacklist, I can see the reason for it, but I wonder if it might not be the nicest thing to continue to try to get in touch with Sarah. It may be too late to get in on more trades for her right now, but she might appreciate the chance to be able to send out childhood memory cards to people anyway. I also think that some people tend to forget that the month IS the sending deadline, not the receiving deadline, and they do have to go by "snail-mail". LOL, you should have seen me at the post office. Jazz had always sent them for me before, so this time, I was mortified not to know how much it would cost to send to different places, and then they gave me the wrong stamps anyhow, and I had to add more to the US ones. Next time (if there is one) I'll be a pro! : )

Shanna of course we still want you to join us in our trades, and of course you may still host absolutely. You did contact us and let us know that you had personal issues, that is all we ask. It is merely out of consideration for others.
The 'blacklist' is not a life long punishment..the name of the person and the trade, once they fullfill their obligations to previous trades I have no problem with them signing for future trades at all..
It is a way for us to keep track is all and I have been hosting trades here for over a year now and I want our trades to be 'sought out' to have a degree of ....oh i am not good with words at all, but i want our trades to be respected, sought after and well known and trusted, I want drawspace to be one of the best trade places on the web..and we cant do that with 'slackers'
so to keep the integrity of the trades to an above average standing is very important to me. and I am sure to all traders..

I received Shanna's today. Yeah the first time I sent them out I received 2 or 3 back because they didn't put the right stamps on them. But now I seperate mine in piles Canada, United States and Over seas and I make sure that they know where to send it. It usually cost me about 20$ per trade but I don't mind. I like it so it's worth it.

Oh, I didn't mean you Shanna, as I said we knew life attacked you all at once, and you were upfront in letting us all know.
I know on one swap I was part of I was late posting mine because I didn't realise I had left them in my desk on my week off.....DOH!!
I am posting the new trade today Roxy...............psst........don't tell anyone the topic is the 1960's............
I checked Sarah's posts and she hasn't posted on Drawspace since the beginning of June, and that was on this trade. I feel she may have left us. But if she comes back and wants to play again she will need to prove herself, as Kay said. She is only on the naughty list, not blackballed.
I agree with Kay .........I love the crew who are on this site and I have received a lot of help, support and caring from the people here.
I would love for Drawspace to be known for the integrity of it's ATC Trades, and for these trades to be known to be welcoming to developing talent as well as old hands. I would hate for it to become elitist and scare away newbies, but at the same time I would hope that we always have the same thought and effort put into each and every card that we have seen in all our swaps to date. I love that we don't need to perfect, we can experiment with new ideas, techniques and mediums and have them received with an appreciation of the care and effort that was poured into them. This is what I think makes our Trades special.

Ok, another task almost completed, that I just didn't have time to do earlier; I posted most of my cards to my gallery. If you are interested in seeing more than just the one you get, this is the the link:

There are three cards that didn't get scanned (the ones I had misplaced) but I had taken pictures of them. I just have to plug the camera into the computer one of these days to add the rest. One was of me with my father as a little girl, one was my little brother and I playing dress-up with beards and mustaches, and the other was a blanket tent we used to build in our yard.

Thank you so much to all of you who sent me your condolences, both on the forum and by pm. It was one of those times where you get through the work of it, and then the sadness hits you after. It has been especially hard on my mom, since she was closest to the sister that just died, and visited her and cared for her every single day for the last 15 years or more and 3 more of her siblings are very ill right now, so I've been trying to spend extra time with her.

Sorry, I know I'm posting way to much, but I need to add this! Thanks everyone for the cards, they are all wonderful, and bring back tons more memories. I even remember some of the cartoons from before we got rid of our tv when I was a child. I especially love the ones that show me something specific to the person who created it. Azuu, I thought the fingerpainting idea was quite brilliant as a childhood memory. As a child I fingerpainted regularly, and as a preschool teacher, I encourage fingerpainting on a regular basis. I love all my cards, I see no need to judge any of them, and my kids and guests think they are wonderful too, everyone tries to guess where they or who they came from.

The finger painting yes was a good idea along with all the different ideas .. BUT all the trading cards were finger painted not just one ...that seems to be the situation here ...see very little effort went into the cards so I do not think her cards are being judged at all ...but it is dissapointing when we all work so hard on each one to think that on all 17 cards she repeaded the same memory .
I fingerpainted with my kids as well ...but we did many other things ..played with barbie and babydolls .. slid down slides ..went to the zoo ect .

Thanks Kay, that was taken from a photo of me with my dad when I was about 3 or 4. My mom let me see it, but I wasn't allowed to keep it for drawing from. She was afraid I'd lose it. She was probably right, lol.

Shanna, you should take a few of her favourite family pics to a Photographer who does restoration work. They don't need the negatives and can manipulate the smaller pics to create wonderfully sharp larger pics that can be framed for hanging or the mantlepiece> I know our local chap does wonderful things, he can do plain B&W, or sepia to look older, he even can do like the photo's from my mother's youth when they used to touch up the colour in the children's cheeks by hand and you got a B&W pic with rosy cheeks. They look fabulous and they help a lot when the family starts to have health problems or worse. My Mum had two of her 7 brothers pass a few years ago and it really made her think seriously about her mortality. I really don't think we consider our own possibilities until someone close passes. A pic of her family restored was like a tonic as she recalled childhood things.

Oh, I am so glad and relieved that you got your cards! I was beginning to get frustrated with the Postal services.
Childhood memories obviously take a lot to go to!
I, too, got a lovely card from Shanna! Thank you so much for making the effort and please, accept my condolences!
The artists' conks- beautifully drawn!

Sveta - i agree with the others - i too love your style.
i couldn't get over the detail that went into my card of the Winnie the Pooh book - it was really stunning!!
I still haven't received any other cards for the childhood trade.
i'll check today again - i think that perhaps the post office is even feeling the effects of the recession and those remaining little post men can't get everything done fast enough

LOL
