Admin,

What is the 'max file size' for uploads to the Gallery? I received three "TOO BIG" scoldings before I was finally able to upload my Gorilla drawing this weekend. After each denial, I returned to my photo editor and scaled the .jpg file size down a little more until it finally accepted it. Thankfully, I didn't have a book's worth of information to type along with it each time I retried it. I would have been hurtin' for certain.

Anyway, a good suggestion or idea might be to add a help file or link of some sort to explain creating uploaded drawings. like what file size is the maximum and ways that you can reduce size, keep quality, and maximize storage space on the Server. I haven't looked yet but my Gorilla drawing file was quite large and I think I used the rest of my allotted space to upload that beast.

Hello,

The max file size is currently set to 200kb per upload. And yes, I agree - we will be making an effort to remove some of the guess-work in the gallery. We've been getting quite a few questions about uploading.

Yeah, I got a problem with that file-size. 200 KB is lower than the standard size I was adopting for .jpg renditions of my drawings.

Not only that, I approached 1 MB and the top my gallery page said I was 49% full for my memory allocation. I tried to add another drawing but it said I was full! So is the member total filesize 1 MB? Why does it imply it's 2MB?

Awww, man, I hate limits. MSNMail gives total strangers free E-mail with 250 MB each. I know you pay for server use, but see what you can do about it.

Indeed, limits do suck sad.gif

The current limit is indeed set to 2MB, i'm not sure why you received that error... i'll look into that right now.

I'll also raise the per-file limit to 400kb and see if we get any complaints from the dial-up users smile.gif

Okay - give it another shot Drac

Dial-up users? We still have dial-up users? What is the world coming to?
