Ted, I think this is a wonderful idea and you are very sweet to think of doing this. I support you 110%.
During my 25-year career as a forensic artist, I've had opportunities to work with inmates inside correctional centers, and have never had a bad experience. Quite the contrary actually, I was always treated with the utmost of respect, and met many good people, whose lives had simply led them toward bad choices. I often felt sorry for them when they were taken back inside after my interview.
In contrast, I’ve also sat two feet away from suspected murderers, rapists, etc., whom I interviewed, and then watched them walk out the door, free as a bird, because of lack of evidence. This scared the %#@& out of me!
My point being, we have no way of knowing who is sitting beside us in a restaurant, standing beside us in an elevator, working alongside us in our offices, or for that matter, posting within this forum.
Art tends to enhance individuals' self esteem, and maybe a life can be turned around by helping someone acquire stronger skills with drawing! Hence, I stand behind Ted and fully support his good judgment on this issue.
