Yes, it is a battle, but sometimes.. hopefully most of the time.. it all works out in the end.

I am so glad to hear someone else needs a break from the shoe! Cindy suggested I come here to commiserate. Can't believe how much I fear working on it. Never thought I would produce anything like what we have the last few months though, so I will persevere!

Absolutely - I think this describes the process of most visual art. What happens is, with practice and increased knowledge you gradually tend to find more direct routes to the finish - but a lot of drawing and painting is about being able to spot discrepancies between what you've got and what you're intending, working out how to correct/progress it, and then applying that ("rinse and repeat" as many times as necessary)

thanks everyone for your thoughts.. its reassuring to know I'm not alone... I'm sure 99.99% of my struggles are rather universal, but in the midst of em you some times forget that... smile.gif
