I would do a search in General Discussions. Type in color pencils. See what comes up. They get talked about a lot.

A good book is "How to paint with coloured pencels" from J.M.Parramon.
He starts to paint (or draw) with blue, red, yellow and black in the first lesson. In the following lessons you learn to draw with twelve and more pencels. Different to other books, you can use the pencels you have and you must not buy those the author used.

Hi Sik.

Try out how you can mix colours by layering. just play with the pencils, draw for example a sphere with 3 colours to shade. [attachmentid=4032] (This is one of my first attempts with CP)
Start with the darkest one and go to the lightest. layer every colour with a light stroke over the darker one. Or try out more pressure.

Mix colours - take a yellow pencil and layer with a light stroke - then take a blue pencil and layer over the yellow aera.
do the same but start with blue . Look at the differenz.

There are so many different ways to use the CP - but the main thing is: Have fun with them! smile.gif

Thank you all.
Painter48, I have cheked out those lessons same day I bought my pencils... But... Y01 and Y02 are too hard for me [I'm just a beginner in ewerything relating art...] S01 - S05 are great lessons... I have already done them [I don't know when i will be able to post them in my gallery, because I accidently left them by my grandma blink.gif ] After that I searched for tutorials in the internet... I found some very good information. But I don't know what to do next... That's where the problem is...
Sunset, yes... I'm going to go in few bookshops these days and see what I can find there. But in Lithuania it is a big problem... maybe I could get some books in English... But it isn't easy too unsure.gif

Today I was really mad... And the best way to calm down for me is drawing. My pencils were next to me, so I started drawing a butterfly:

[attachmentid=4100]

It isn't the best drawing in the world, but it's mine... And i like it. It's my first butterfly, and my first real drawing with coloured pencils happy.gif

i don't now what to do with the background... Should I leave it white or colour it? Maybe i should draw a flower or spray? wacko.gif Howewer... I must do something next to it because it's a little bit closer to the end of the paper in the top than in the bottom sad.gif

Butterflies are hard to draw .. the wings look the same and it is hard to draw that ...I think you did a awsome job on it.....and if you draw like that when your mad ..I think you just found a healthy release.
Funny you were angry ...and yet you drew something that was delicate and easly destroyed ....makes me wonder if you were drawing a part of yourself .....that was hurting .....ok I will stop lol sorry . smile.gif

Siks, beautiful butterfly. You did very well for both being angry and your first colored pencil drawing. Great job. Art is a wonderful release of stress. Its also theraputic. wub.gif

Lovely drawing Siks.... and I should know since I've a butterfly! biggrin.gif

Just one remark... a little burnishing would fill in all the white "valleys" of the paper and make it look neater.

You could use the color on the opposite of the color wheel. The opposite of yellow would be purple. This will usually make your colors stand out.

One way to do the wings is to get a stiff piece of paper and cut out one wing the size you want it and then use it for a pattern in your drawing. You wings should be both the same.

Thank you all.
I tried to do burnishing, but the paper was too bad for it sad.gif When i tried to press my pencils harder, very small paper pieces were always leaving on my pencil's end sad.gif So i did the best I could.
I didn't use stiff piece of paper. I drew ewerything freehand.
The black in the two lower wings is purple... My camera just doesn't show it sad.gif
