Well I drew this in about 30 minutes or so today. I like the legs and feet, but the arms look weird, and I can't do hands or faces at all
Anyway It's not nearly done yet, I just wanted to know if it's any good at all so far

I hope this is the right section to post stuff like this

Hey! Nice outline! I ussualy start with stick figures myself but I really like the fluidity here. The arms are a little awkward and mebbe a tad long but I think you could work that stuff out with little effort

Ya I did start with a stick figure at first, then I worked it out to that.
Heres some things I noticed need fixing-

Is there a tutorial somewhere around here for anime/manga style heads and hands maybe

his or her chest would be sticking out more so then the shoulder .. and the arm extending from that side would be down a bit more and the bend of the elbow would not be lined up with the other elbow ....to throw your arms back like that one would most likely be arching its back .
hope that helps .

I noticed that the calf on the right veiwers side is wider than the left and the thigh on the right is smaller than the left, this could also be throwing it off too. Hope that helps..

Sketch Fiend,
This is how you post a picture.
re:posting picture
When you "add reply" at the bottom of the forum, you get your message area. Scroll down and you will see "file attachments", click the browse button. This will bring up your files, open the correct folder, then open your file. Next click "add this attatchment", Then click add into post. Scroll down "Preview post" then if all is good "add reply". I hope this will do it for you.

Hey! Thanks Paulett!
Xenrok, that's really nice for a beginner! I thought you might have been doing this a while. But yeah thirty min is a little over the top for a general outline lol. And yeah glad I could help you out on some of that stuff

I have a whole shelf of my book case filled out with art how to stuff that my parents and people keep buying me. Really lucky on this end haha

Well I don't know if it was half an hour, I drew some of it in the car and it was bumpy so I drew pretty slowly.

Xenrok, it doesn't matter how long it takes you do do a line drawing or whatever. The importrant thing is you are trying and you want to do it. Don't let others opinions stray you away from anything. Besides, If its something I want to come out really well I have been known to take hours doing line drawings and getting everything just right. Drawing takes time and lots of practice. I have oftenly lost track of time when drawing. I haven't even attempted figure drawing like you are yet. I am just redrawing pictures of Tinkerbell in different poses. ( Figured that way when I finish a picture I can just give it to my girls to hang up..LOL) Keep up the great work and practice, it will pay off.

Well... I haven't really worked on it at all actually

It's hard to put what I see in my mind on paper

So I'm going to work on body shapes a little more before I finish it I think. Also I'm trying to decide if I should get drawing tablet.
So ya, maybe in a little bit I'll come back to it

a suggestion for you Xen .... get a coloring book and start off looking at simple lines if its dancers you want get a girls coloring book with ballet dancers in it or fairies ....simple lines to start with .....you will get it right ... worst thing you can do is give up .

Nice advice. Yeah, it's good to take a step back from work. It's funny though, I've never taken longer than... Two hours on a peice. And I've never taken a break and comeback to it later or anything. Kinda weird... Mebbe if I got into painting... lol

Jeanette once told me ... put it down and go back to it later .....I had never done that i had always just wanted to get it done .. and this time I did like she said and when I went back to it .. I saw everything I needed to see and changed what needed to be changed .. when I posted the drawing it got like 5 comments .

Kim gave some really good advice. I love fairies but suck at drawing body parts and figures at the moment. So I decided to search the web for coloring pages and found alot of Tinkerbell that I have loved since childhood. She has so many pictures out there in different poses that its perfect for trying to draw her and practice the poses too. Another great cartoonie type girl figure is the Brats Doll cartoons. So I think in all I win as well as my older girls because they like the cartoon pages I got and I can practice the poses. Then when I feel confident eough I can star working on my own fairies or whatever female posed drawings I wish. As for male figure drawings I can also try different action heros. I love Spiderman. Not too keen on many others though....
