Yes, I'm thinking about posting my own MS Paint lesson thingy. I've been doing it a while so I thought it might be fun. So let me know if you think it'd be a good idea and what you'd like to see here. I'm not terribly good at teaching but I shall do my very best

That's very nice of you Sketch - I'm sure loads of people would love it.
I'm not into digital drawing myself since I don't have a tablet and can't handle the mouse to save my life but I'm sure a lot of people would be interested.

Alright

I guess I'm just gonna start with a simple sprite. Any one like to see anything inparticular?
NOTE:
I don't use a tablet, just a mouse and Ctrl-Z alot lol It takes practice like none other but it's really fun.
And Kim I don't have PSP so I wouldn't really know

Alrighty then, here we go. When you create a sprite you, like with any other art, start with the basics and general outline. Maybe even a action line. Here I have the beginnings of a demon crow :k lol
[attachmentid=4194]
Make sure that you don't get real hung up on details here you can fix it all really easily. Make sure you are happy with what you have so far though. If it looks bad change it or start fresh. It always helps to have what you want in your head.
Next you wanna get all it cleaned up a bit and add the small stuff:
[attachmentid=4199]
If you think it looks good everyone else will probably think it looks great. The first time I showed mine to someone they thought I got it off the net on a game website lol Next Imma add some wing texture and stuff then color.
[attachmentid=4200]
Here you use the color pallet alot. If you don't know how to use it just double click on your closest color and drag stuff around lol. So these are your base colors here, the general color. Next you add highlights and then shadows. Decide your light source and for color I take the base color and darken/ lighten it to my needs. Do this to whatever you think is good. If you wanna make it look really color detailed, add a second base color after this and put it wherever it looks good.
[attachmentid=4201]
Now, I've just had a really brilliant idea. These come and go but never be afraid of them... Said the child phyciratrist

I was looking at the wings and very not satisfied with them so I came up with this beaut:
[attachmentid=4202]
And that's about it. That's the general steps I take for sprites. I'm done. So, I'd like to see the results people have with this! Post em here! Any questions? Adds? Insults? Compliments? Oh, yeah I can kinda do this for people and stuff. If you want help with general MS Paint questions I got em here. And... Yeah hope you guys liked it

oooh! Very imprtant note here!!! ---> You do this while zoomed in! lol And you do this in about the space of 100x100, depending. Also, check out the gnarly gator:

Glad you like it. I guess I'm going to do something else here...
Oh! Fun stuff is quick pointilism! You do this by useing the spray paint tool.
[attachmentid=4218]
you lay down a quick sketch and then highlight and lowlight stuff. Then to make it look official you just spray every where. Give it a try. I wanna see this too if anybody tries it. You know it's right there begging to be used.... lol

Ok here's something fun I've been working on myself. This is how to make clouds!
Yes I see you out there:

Well I'm hoping to get good enough at this stuff so I can even make my own backgrounds. I'm going to be working on trees next I think. So lets begin.
Start with the color you intend the sky to be and then blob in the middle of your cloud this'll be the very center and the whitest part so white will work the best.
[attachmentid=4222]
Now work your way out while getting darker colors all the time. Make these all fuzzy.
[attachmentid=4223]
Keep going.
[attachmentid=4224]
and more...
[attachmentid=4225]
Till you're done!
[attachmentid=4226]
And that's how I do that.

Sketch Fiend,
I must say I didn't have much appreciation for what you were showing us. I now have to eat my thoughts. The fine detail you are able to get is impressive. It is also a whole lot funner than I would have thought. Thank you for introducing this to me.
Williac,
I like your cartoon character, he (you) reminds me of Popeye.

Mona Lisa- Wow! Interesting how he started it. Thanks for sharing.
A sprite is a character drawn on a 100x100 pixel page(?) and is used in games like Mario Brothers, it can also be a part of the moving background. This is assuming I have understood correctly????? We are using Microsoft paint (which comes with windows) and a mouse. The trick if you ask me is getting detail on that small of a scale. Hm-m I wounder why you don't draw it bigger and just adjust the size after????
Judyvan check out this challenge also

Here's one I just whipped out for ya.
[attachmentid=4793]
And here's one I helped my brother with on PSP. I found out we had an old, old, old version and I'm trying to get the hang of it. It's the background for the main menu for one of his games. Turn based and all that. The lettering says International Mercenary Unit. Nifty, hm?

oh yeah, the globe and AR-15 we got offa google. We didn't make it ourselves.

Hi sketch,
You're right I have continued to make the sprites. Here are my most recent. Nothing original, but with a good photo or lesson from Brenda, these are more fun than playing cards on the computer.

I think maybe that yours are original (from your head). I found it neat to follow Brenda's lesson plan, with a little adjusting. Any of the cartoon ones would be appropriate. I am trying to learn digital painting with Artweaver. That is very involved!
