lol...you guys are such a riot..carol, i'm with you..m&m's and Beer.
which brings me to a funny lil story..living in maine way up north, not much to do, raft, climb a few mtns, and work on the woodpile..so one christmas hubby buys me the most beautiful diamond earrings..very nice earrings..it was our first christmas together actually..and I am NOT a jewelry girl, well fancy jewelry anyway, i am more into like friendship bracelets, corded necklaces that kind of thing. and no one ever purchased something so nice for me before, i looked at them closely, then i looked at him, and said, now where the **** am i going to wear these? on the woodpile? flannels shirt, torn jeans, but sparkly diamond earrings...we had a good chuckle, i tossed em in the jewelry box, and when my son turned twenty something, i gave them to him, always thought i would be doing that for a daughter but ya know there is confusion amongst the kids today.
texaslady-59
Jul 7 2009, 02:43 PM
Me too Kay.. Jewelry is just not something I want or need .,,, So funny that you gave them to your son ..
not quiet the same but after my ex went out and did the 50 year old change of life thing with another woman .. I gave all the jewlery he gave to me to my Grandkids.. only wore em cause he thought it made him look good..
Yup ..hair in a ponytail and a fishing pole that makes my day..Oh I don't object to a Mood Ring mind you..
Birds are going out today.. By Carrier Pigeon .. Hope everyone gets the right one .. you know it's hard to find a good pigeon these days ..

I have time blocked out today to work on more, but first I have to do my "chores" before I can reward myself with artwork. Then I have a 5 pm with my therapist. Thank God for her, I wouldn't be doing very well without her.

Now I can't wait for Steve to get his card from Carol. Sounds like it might be interesting.

But I have you all beat, no M&M's for me, its winter and here in Oz we have Tim Tams.........mmmmmmm Tim Tams.............now the trick is to nibble the end of this triple choc biscuit and stick the nibbled end in your cup of tea or coffee and suck! The biscuit melts from the inside and it goes down so smoothly with the hot drink! Its called a Tim Tam shooter! Yum Yum Yum. Bugger .....now I'll have to go and buy a pkt of Tim Tams.
Great pics everyone.....have only done a handful....will have to get stuck in and get them done to post on Monday. Its been quite cold here with frosts every morning
Click to view attachment so I have been making a pair of fingerless gloves for myself so my hands can stay fairly warm while I'm working.

I have 6 done now and another couple sketched out ready to transfer onto the good paper.
I have been asked to do a drawing of a Long-Haired Dachshund for the Australian National Dachshund Club Show in August, a Memorial Trophy in honour of a lady who passed away last month and bred and showed these dogs for many years.
I will try and do a WIP, but my problem is trying to remember to take pics as I go, but it may just be the finished product I post.
I'm going to get the birds finished and posted by Monday , then I can stuck into this project..........who knows someone may want a commission after seeing it (if its good enough). That would be wonderful, although I get scared every time I am asked to do a commission.

Looking forward to the WIP Sue! I know you will do a good job. The last time I was asked to do an animal portrait I had a lot of trepidation too (hey y'all, I found my dictionary!

) but after at least one disaster that got tossed into the trash I was able to settle down and get it right. You are a very talented artist, put everything else out of your mind and know that you will create a great drawing!
