I came over to Birds to see how all was going. I keep seeing beautiful birds that are incredible.I mailed mine I think two weeks ago,but I'm chicken now considering the standard! But I too will get better.I went several pages back and noticed that I posted . But I had deleted it because I must have had one to many because nothing makes sense. But dear Kay pretends that nothing is wrong and that it all makes sense. You are all such sweeties!! I have received a beautiful Horned Owl( that is what I meant by naming )the birds. Those myth bird are incredible but is that why she is a teacher? Dying for the mail to flow Joanna

Marisa, I will love whichever card comes my way, and I will obviously learn about another myth, not one I already know....I love that!
Sandra, glad you like the little chap.......for such a tiny little bird they have BIG attitude! When they are nesting they will attack crows and magpies and see them off their territory.......only the other day a group of crimson chats got too close to little girl wren he was courting and this teeny tiny bird got so fiesty and chased them till they left his tree! In courting and nesting season I have to put plastic shower caps over my car's side mirrors, the male Superbs sit on them and attack "the competition" in the mirrors, and they poop all over the back of the mirrors! The shower caps look silly, but work well!
Joanne, if you go back ....way back! And look at what some of us were doing when we first started you would not be so concerned. It is the effort that matters. As we practice (and these swaps make us work outside our comfort zone) we get better and better and in a while newbies will be worried about swapping with you. You will almost feel like turning around to see if there is a real artist standing behind you because they couldn't possibly be talking about you. That's the way I felt when someone first worried about swapping with me. Very flattering.
Oh and have that glass of wine........I have a friend who swears she paints so much better when she has had a glass or two........all her inhibitions and self-doubt start to disappear! Its just the typing that is hard - especially when you are 2 finger typist (like me) at the best of times!!

guess what i just seen? of course no camera..i snuck out of the house while the dogs lay sleeping (they hate it when i do that) lol..
anyway, i took a small walk this morning, and there was what appeared to be an injured bird, a woodcock, what a most beautiful bird that is, anyway, it was sitting dead still with its wing out to the side, I thought, oh no, the poor thing is hurt, it let me get right up to it, i mean i was all but bending down, that is how close it let me get, then it scared the life out of me by flying straight up, then taking off, nearly taking off my hat ..SCARED THE HECK OUT OF ME! lol
I guess there must have been babies nearby, or something..

but really what a gorgeous soft gentle looking bird.

oh and you guys know we love motorcycles, well my husband and i were out for a spin a few years back, just cruising along loving life, when out of nowhere, a turkey vulture launched in front of us, that **** bird may as well been a condor, it was huge, and let me tell ya, he was so darn close to us that we could count the rings in his pucker..that would have been bad to hit a bird that size on a motorcycle cruising about 60 mph..i think it would have hurt
we still look back and laugh on that, but it was indeed a close call. when i die people, thats how it will be, during some wierd bizzare freak accident..

Hi all! Sorry this is the first time I've checked in today! Got a little "heat" at work for playing around on the internet instead of - you know - working. So I have to be a good girl and only post from my bumpy little dial-up home computer.
Let's see - I've been getting Santa's bag full of bird cards - first was a charming card from Zwaagstra (Joanne), a lovely wren and his new home. Thank you Joanne! Then a wonderfully drawn - and framed! - card from Lenny! Thanks! Frithy's card arrived today - fun and whimsical and colorful! This is easily the most fun I've had in a while!
I'm gathering them all to post up on my cubicle wall - a little ATC gallery here in NC!

I got drips. But they come from sweating. LOL 104 or 105 today. Kay you need to come west. We have plenty of heat for you and probably most of your state. Maybe more than one state. Hubby was in Vegas yesterday and last night and it was about 115. I have the cooler on hight, overhead fans on in all rooms, and a small fan at my feet. And it doesn't get much better at night either. The dogs sleep on their backs so their bellies get the fan breeze.
