Two this morning:- A cheery looking Ducky from Frithy and a more solemn Thunderbird from Marisa. So different, but both really good. Thanks a lot.

Mumwood, I'm glad the Thunderbird arrived without a bang.

I got a wonderful card from Marisa yesterday - the Bannu - an Egyptian symbol of renewal. I'm a HUGE fan of ancient Egypt and its art, so this one was a delight to receive.

NC - Egyptian mythology is so interesting. I was in Egypt in 1989.

Paulette, I hadn't heard of the Alkonost before this trade. It was interesting to learn about this Russian "bird".

I am glad you like him Paulette.......you should see the riot of colour in my yard if I put seed out. There are the noisy Rainbow Lorikeets who battle evryone for 1st go at the dish, then there are the the red & green King Parrots who are majestic, also we get Pale Headed Rosellas, Magpies, and then the array of finches the Zebras, the Redheads, and the Superb Wrens. Its a riot of colour but they all come at different times.......the little birds after all the big bullies have left.

Here are the wonderful cards that have flown into my letterbox so far:

Norma sent a cute little Song Thrush
The Yellow Warbler came from Carol, and I can imagine him in the brambles.
Kay sent a gorgeous coloured McCaw
The cutist little fledgling Bluebird is from Trish - I just love the way he is all fluffed up.
Sandra's Barn Swallow is the most amazing purplish blue!
Joanna made a stylised peacock like is used in the Festival of Lights.

A wonderfully sharp eye (I'd hate to be a mouse near him!) on Jeanne's Barn Owl
Steve sent a little wren - I think she has seen a bug she looks so intent.
Gretchen sent a mythical eagle like the ones of the Navaho Indians in Arizona.
A purple Martin came flying in from Roxy.
2 birds came from Sveta, a Dalmation Pelican, and a Blue-Footed Booby - they are both great!
Suzaku a celestial bird of the Chinese - one of the Four symbils of the Chinese constellations, it came from Marisa, and the name made me think of when I was called Suzi-Q as a kid! Good match Marisa.
And last but not least is the Toucan in a frame from Lenny, thanks so much for such a colourful bird and the effort of the framing Lenny. Its terrific.

Got a wading egret from Paulette this morning. It's on drafting film, which I've often wondered about and this is the first time I've actually seen it used. Thanks very much. I love the effect.

I'm glad you like it Norma.
Amazing the first of my cards makes it half way around the world, before getting to places I can drive to!?!?
Here is my newest bird to fly in....

Today I received a double sided swan.Very lovely the way you matched it up.What a great idea She is a double drinker so to speak .Thanks Click to view attachment Paulette
paulette4
You're welcome Joanna,
The top picture is the back side, it has a bit of white and black on it to help punch up the colours on the front side. You will find different colour papers behind the drafting film will give different effects to the drawing.

Everyone,
I realized after I sent the cards out that I didn't spray them with a fixative. If you have one on hand you might want to do that.

Today I received a water coloured Bee Eater bird from dear Tsveta.Such nice water colour work Lov JoannaClick to view attachment

Thanks Kay .Note the hour I usually work.Usually you are all sleeping!!It just took me so long to figure out! But I always felt bad not note posting. I was always reading along and then responded when it was quiet. Thanks all for being so patient.I'm wondering if everyone has received my cards since it has been at least three weeks since mailing. I'm waiting for four cards but that doesn't bother me because a lot mailed later than I.I sure hope they finally get my cards soon What crazy slow mail!! Joanna

Joanna. I am on the other side of the world and so I am 10 hours ahead (usually - it differs depending where you all are).............I just put my 2 cents worth in late or not.........as a world wide site there are quite a few of us who are out of sync. Never let that stop you!

And to answer your question....yes I got your lovely peacock....I think I posted him with my scans on the previous page.

Hi Joanna and Sue,
Doesn't really matter where we are, I always feel like we are here together at the same time!
Joanna, I got your card, I am sorry I have not yet posted here all the cards I received, I will take care of that shortly.
Sue, What a clever girl you are! (Gee I hope that doesn't have a different meaning in OZ) The way I mean it is, you always seem to know the right thing to say for any occasion and I admire that about you.
You know this Drawspace website has kept me going these past four months, without you guys, I would have gone stark raving mad, as it is, sometimes I feel I have a tentative gripe on the edge. I mean this sincerely, you, my friends, have done more for me than any other thing in my life right now. Thanks, all of you, for being who you are, each and every one of you! I cherish all of your friendships.
Gosh this is getting mushy, musta had something to do with that wine I had earlier, LOL But seriously folks, I love you guys!
Love,
Trish

Sveta hon, here too, i have rec'd 2 of the most lovely bird cards from you..thank you so very much.

and the other an absolutely terriffic Cormorant, He is really awesome..

from Marisa a really wonderful done 'garuda'- a mythical bird like creature that appears in both hindu and buddhist mythology.
thank you marisa, he is unique and that was an awesome 'sub-theme'. I also love that idea of the info printed out on the label on the back..very smart.I think i will make up a bunch of labels like that too, it beats writing it all out. wink.gif

Paulette , thank you for the feathers cuddled up in faux fur and wool wink.gif he is adorable and with these little treasure i FINALLY get to see 'drafting film' and the way the cp works on it and I shall def be getting some of that for future trades, i love it.

Trish I'm so with you but ya this is my life.I don't have to go out and like i said before I'm always reading along so I keep track of all cards and the other stuff too.I'm still working with a pill for ooh yes the great depression.I have come a long way though. All those pills and not one for me.They all react wrongly on me. So 7 years later I'm on the last hope pill called parnate but that isn't the point. It is working but s causes lo blood pressures so I fall a lot and it also gives me a daily wicked head ache. But it is working and that is what counts.I enjoy you so much and you have been through so much!!I never do the I have it better or worse game because we are all different! My expierence can be for you but not my advice !! Iknow all the painful things that can be said with good intent but still hurt .I was having one of my 649 lottery dreams yesterday. One of the things I would do is take EVERYONE IN THIS group on a art trip. What a riot that would be.WE would all get to meet each other and then travel, paint etc.Dreams are the best Big hug joanna

Hey Trish, I figure as long as I am holding on to sanity by at least my finger-tips I am doing OK! wacko.gif

There is something about a certain age and we all seem to come up against the "Black Dog" - it just seems to hang onto some of us a bit more tenaciously than others. I look good to the outside world, but oh boy! If only you see the inside (better not ) I always feel like a duck...........looks calm on top of the water but paddling like crazy just to keep things in order underneath! unsure.gif I am glad you find it a support to come here and goof around with all of us.............just keep playing and the smiles will come easier each day. biggrin.gif

and Paulettes Voodoo Bird.. I am learning so much from this trade .. A Voodoo bird ? I love it !!

Thank you both very much !!

I am glad you like it.
You will have to ask the Florida natives what kind of bird it is.
He just looked like he was doing something weird to the bird ahead. (No offense to those who practice voodoo) smile.gif

Kay, drafting film is cool to work on, you'll like it.

Hi All,

Hope you are well - i have some terrible news.... but i'm hoping you'll all understand!!!

I just got back for a business trip of 2 weeks or so, before I left i asked my dad to stick them in the mail for me and i get back yesterday and they are still on my dressing table - he forgot to do it!!
I could have screamed - I have put them in the mail this morning - please forgive me!!!
I really love ATC on Drawspace and i don't want to be blacklisted or anything... it was an honest mistake!!

Hope you all understand and that you get the cards SOON!!

Lovies,
Tania

LOL laugh.gif ** 'poof' ** you are forgiven wink.gif

Tania, we all have problems crop up.........the only way anyone would be excluded from a trade is if they didn't send their cards at all. I know that you have tried hard to find art suppliers and get the right info for how to trade for your 1st swap, so don't sweat it. I even once left mine in my work bag and had to mail them a week late (I used to work 7 days on, 7 days off - so it was a week till I could get back to them!). Look forward to seeing what arrives..........

I received yours yesterday Paulette - great close up of that Mallard's bill! (see you weren't the last as you thought ha ha - sorry Tania blush.gif
TaniaBee
Thanks Kay - you're like the forgiveness fairy "POOF" smile.gif

Sue.... Thanks for the support - i really do feel terrible!!!
But like you say, it was not on purpose and my poor dad didn't mean it either - felt quite bad!!

Thanks all for understanding and i hope you get them VERY soon!! smile.gif

I love your card it feels so neat and yes it intensifies when one goes behind the other.Should I still spray if I keep it behind plastic? Finally do you know Donna or Marijana?Did you get a card from them.I don't know them. I'm not in a rush but I'm sure I sent 17 cards out I got 14.You too? For Wm is he into music or history or trivia. He should at least get a card of his interest.Let me know joanna
paulette4
I have received 13 cards to date.
Only 7 of my cards have made it to their new owners (as posted), they were sent out on the last day. (so 18 days total)
I am a bit surprised more of them haven't made it to their new owners yet, maybe the mail men are taking vacation?

It is probably fine if kept behind plastic, not sure though.

William likes history, anything to do with machinery and technology, but he has also been inspired by what others have drawn.
By the way, he has 5 complete and rough drawings for another 3 on the go, way faster than his Mom. LOL

I received yours Paulette.

Great! and I believe Tania might have received hers also so that makes 9.

Paulette - i did receive yours - i think i commented on your blog!!
