Apparently the SA Post Office has been on strike - so i'm hoping that my little birdies managed to fly out before that happened.
i haven't received any other cards for the bird trade. (or the childhood for that matter).

on strike?! what the?? it is amazing to me that a 'group' of ppl can hold a country 'hostage' by 'striking'..Controlling communications with the rest of the world. What is the problem they want the self stick stamps or what?

Well no-one had ever seen a South African Trotting Duck so we kids imagined a really ugly bird

Actually, although she would never have won any beauty contests, she was lovely! Very smart, always smiling, despite being the butt of some pretty nasty jibes. She was quite a big girl, but I thought she was great!

Sue that is just too funny, my folks when they wanted to say more than they wanted us to hear, would speak french. thing is us kids were like sponges and while NONE of us 'learned' to ever speak french we learned how to curse up a storm in french..I think it backfired on em..LOL

Wondering how every one is doing on the migration of birdies. I haven't received one from lensterb, aryannam, and Donna . If anyone has not received my cards please let me know . I have 14 beautiful cards. One would come from Croatia so that could be a long boat ride for that birdy! the other is canada and U.S July 30th should be mailing date right? We are well into sept. Anyone else in same boat. Tania your childhood pic came back to me so tomorrow another card is in the post. I would never forget a framed pic from Len and I knew every one got a framed pic.I did'nt received it so it is probably the mail even though we live in the same country,we don't always get what we send .I totally believe he sent it out.It will probably still arrive if not that just is what happens at times and I always get his trades!!! so it is nooo problem lots might not get mine as with Tania who's card just got back to me. girls, i am sorry lens card has not reached you. perhaps you should contact him personally and let him know..Len is a great guy and wouldn't mind replacing your cards i am sure. so just give him a lil pm and let him know. be sure to let him know which trade.

Nope something major is up with Len.
He hasn't been here since Aug 1st and has changed his name to gonester.
He left a parting message in his profile.
I assume (and we all know what that means) that he sent out the ones he had finished and then something major happened.

On a happier note I have Tania's card and will hopefully show it later today.

Just arrived ... a lovely calling peacock from Carol... appears it got lost in someone's mailbox in my building. Some folks don't live in my building all year round, I guess they finally checked their mail and put the misplaced envelope in our apartment's cubby hole.

My card from Marijana Topolnjak came back to me today .The address is the same as on the list of Birds that was given out so I can't read the explanation on the envelope because it is greek to me.I cannot even read the individual letters.Any one else get their card back?The address is stroked out on the envelope so maybe she moved? Anyone with a different address? .I'm not mailing again until I hear from her. We give our adresses to the hostess so if there is an error or change it is up to us to change it.You as hostesses can not be chasing people for updating addresses.We are adults.If something has come up I'm so sorry Marijana Best to you joanna

I'm sorry, I forgot to post the cards I received. Just remembered when I went to scan mine for Architecture. There were 17 sent out, but just 14 received - missing Aryannam, Donna Wesley and Lenster. It'd a bit disapointing when this happens. The rest made up for it though. It's a great collection. Thanks to everyone.
