Hi all ,

I am your host for this months ATC swap.........please check out the thread on hosting for available dates if you want to try your hand.........as I am finding out its not too hard.

This month's theme is "Birds, Birds, Birds.......bird houses, bird nest, birds in trees, cages, anything to do with birds,
Sign up starts from now and closes in 7 days on the 28th june. We then have a month to finish our cards and post them out......that's by the 28th July. Please consider whether you will be able to meet those deadlines when you sign up.

For those who are just tuning in ...this is a art card exchange .....done in any medium, No computer art or printouts, ...the size must be that of a trading card, 2.5 x 3.5 inches........please stick to the theme and most of all have fun!

Please understand if you commit to doing the exchange you must finish all cards and get them out by the dead line of July 28th.......if you fail to do so you may not be allowed to join other trades in DS .
If you don't think you can make it this time........join us in the thread admiring the cards and having fun with us.................. and join to play with us next time.

I haven't yet finished my childhood trade, but I have one week ahead and I'll manage - may I join the birds' trade, Kay?

of course you may sweetie, and we love having you, the deadline for childhood is a week away, but I thought we could still sign up during that week ,I am trying to keep the month together.

I want to join too I just need to finish my other ones but I should be able to do that soon.

this is just sign up.. I wanted to use the last week of this month for sign up so we have the months kind of evened out instead of ending singup into july, when you are certain let me know and i forget to add that the usa celebrates her independence on the 4th, but most go from like the 3-5th..lol..

Yeah I want to be part of this trade, I was just saying I wasn't quite done. I just need to draw one more card and colour them. Us it's Canada day on the 1st of July.

let me see how many people join in and then i'll let you know if i'll have time to join because last time their were 17 cards to do which doesn't sound like much - but time catches up on a person - LOL

I'm finished my first card I tried a new medium I hope it doesnt look too bad I never tried water colour. I'll post it tomorrow

Well here it is. It's a duck. I'm not very good at watercolours i'm not really sure how they work. I had tried to use it for a previous trade but my pen would smudge everywhere so I cant use pens when I use watercolour now i know. But i dont know with what i should use to make my guidelines?

And I want to get a head start on my cards because last time I was like oh yeah i'll finish them early and I was at the last week and still not done lol So this time i'll try once again to get them done early.

You are in and welcome

Make your drawing with a pencil, then apply your watercolours. When they have dried, you can then use your pen. Which is usually how I work. Nice Duck! Did I mention? I love Ducks.

id like in on this one sounds fun , i was in on the cat trade gues the bird trade needs its turn

Thanks Steve! I'll try that out. And yes I remembered you like ducks so when I thought of ducks I knew who I was sending it too.

Here is my second card I tried to draw it in pencil first and then with ink at the end but then I messed it up a bit :S I hope it's not too bad. This is my hummingbird

Hi Trish. Good to have you back participating. I hope that you are feeling just a little better.

Wow, Roxy! You have caught the speed bug!! I hope you are having fun with your watercolours....the birds look quite good for a novice. You experiment as much as you like - a lot of us try different things on the swaps.

Trish, good to see you and Lenster back. I just love it.....its like old home week around here on this swap.

Glad to see others are trying new medium with this ATC. I am too - this will be my first serious venture into colored pencils. Please be kind when you receive your cards from me - they will probably look like a 5-year-old drew them!

Having seen your drawing of the bean field, I don't believe that for a moment! It's good to experiment! I might try my new watercolour pencils on a few of these cards!

I've done 5 now I'm pretty proud of myself lol

I will be starting on mine in the next few days............I have most of my references sorted.......it'll just be trying to get the version of them that's in my head onto the page! It always looks better in my mind's eye than in reality.

I have 3 finished and several more references lined up.

Thanks! I've never worked in color though - it's really a different world when you look at all the different colors that exist and "see" them for the first time, isn't it? I'm pleased with the first two cards I finished, and now (wish me luck) I'm going to try using mineral spirits to brighten the colors up on the third one.

Super card Carmen.. sort of reminds me of those Holigen ( spelling ? ) cards .. you know the ones when you move them back and forth it gives a 3-D effect?
