I opted to do the lock as well. Not sure I can draw the cat ( my own passed away Feb 18/07 she was almost 20 years old ...a good life for a cat and she was a grey tabby too! ) . He is smart looking cat smile.gif

sorry for the late reply, my answer is mysteriously gone with the wind.....

20 years - THAT is a long cat-life. I totally can understand that you don't want to draw a cat right now.
You are correct, Josh is a smart cat - and he knows this. laugh.gif He is very affectionate and always with us (the other 7 are very close too, but not as much as Josh) and I must say thank you to you because now we know the father of Josh.
He is a wild cat, born free until neighbours grabbed him and put him into an aquarium. They thought the mother was gone, but she was still there with the other 2 babies.

Everyone in our village knows that we are the "cat-and-dog-people" *laughing* so someone told us of this babycat in the glasshouse with a wooden top. wacko.gif Result - Josh came to us in the age of about 4 weeks (and his two siblings 8 months later).

Btw - his weightis about 6,5 Kilos (sorry, again I don't know the US measure blush.gif ) a real hunk... biggrin.gif

Nice mushroom! biggrin.gif I know the problem with the tortillion, I like to use it too.
But your drawing looks good.
artfix2
LoL Martina he is a hefty cat ...mine was as well often mistaken for a raccoon. This is Putnam a few years ago sitting in my lap.

My off topic as well.

Thanks so much smile.gif
kim1963

I'm drawing a German cat? Cool! biggrin.gif I'm almost done with Josh. The only thing I need to do is to get some white gauche for the whiskers. I will post him tonight or tomorrow for the dead line.

Tim, Maybe drawing a picture of your own cat will help your healing. I can understand tho, when my cat died in 1999 from cancer, I became very protective of his image. I could not look at him as my heart was in shreds. My eyes still well up, my throat get tight and my heart longs for him even to this day when I look at his photo. I miss him so much. Another cat came into my life 6 months after his death and I had a hard time opening up to her. I did NOT want her! I spent soe time looking for her owners, but somehow she stayed. I joke a lot and tell people I'm still looking for her owners LOL

I draw cats, but I CANNOT draw her blink.gif Her markings are very hard. She is a torti and I don't know how to do it. Maybe I can have you use her for a challenge and I can see how other people might do it.
here is her pic.... wub.gif

Thanks so much DKelly I had started to draw her but I have left it unfinished ...soon I'll get back to drawing her. I have a hard time passing through the pet food section in the supermarket still. I really want another but I had made a promise long ago to my wife that we wouldn't have anymore.

HERE'S JOSH!!!!!!

Hi Guys,

The cat in my photo above is still alive LOL laugh.gif I adore her. Her passing is going to take a huge part of my heart, but hopefully I have MANY years with her.... wub.gif wub.gif

Tim, I understand your feelings soooooo much. I couldn't look at his pictures for years because my throat would close and I couldnt handle it. I have his ashes because I never wanted to leave him behind. I don't display them openly, but knowing he is "with" me is a comfort. Sometimes I touch his collar, and can feel ok. You had a friend for 20 years. It is a hard loss.

Have a nice weekend. Uta
Traumsonne
Uta,
the house looks very good!!! And you've taken a good photo. I mostly take a photo of my drawings - I find it better because my scanner works not such good.

DKelly,
WOW! This is incredible!!! Ou did a phantastic job, Kelly!!! I have the feeling that Josh will jump out of this drawing every minute!
Please may I print it for me and my husband?

this is my drawing of Maya. biggrin.gif

Bob I hope this is your own hand and not a computer enhancement.
Because if it is your own hand you are the best portrait artist I have ever seen and I've seen allot.
Some of the best portrait artists can't capture what is truly in front of them. Due to mental to physical arberations from the brain to the hand.
You seem to have a highly precise eye to hand coordination and understanding of physical form.
I can capture good likenesses of those I love due to actually studying them over time and noticing slight imperfections in the face individuality. But only a good likeness.

BRB
I promise you that all of my drawings that I have posted are from my hand and not from a computer program. biggrin.gif I have at times cleaned up specks on the scans of my drawings because they were on the scanner's glass top. I also have to gray scale them and darken them slightly because my scanner turns the scans a very pale blue.

I am posting you an enlarged section of Maya so you can see my scribbles biggrin.gif .

Hello again!

Great drawings everyone - really I mean it. Everyone's entries so far have been superb.

I tried something I'd never done before for my second entry - a portrait in water colour pencils. I don't know if we are supposed to give the details of the work but just in case we are hese are Caran d'Ache water soluble colour pencils ( a small box of 30) on the smooth side of Stonehenge paper - finished size 8x10 1/2.

Since I intended to water the drawing I took shots of it at several stages so I'm posting the lot - the gridded sketch, the transferred line drawing (sorry for the poor quality - forget to take a pic before I lightened it), coloured drawing before watering and the finished watered drawing including the background.

[attachmentid=4288][attachmentid=4289][attachmentid=4290][attachmentid=4291]

I'm certainly not Adolfo.. I have still so much to learn - but I tired anyway! biggrin.gif
