Hi everyone!

I love to draw landscapes but was never good in that. Now after making a class in another forum I am very pleased with the result.
And because I'm not only pleased but really proud - I want to show it my friends (if this is okay although it is from a class of another forum). My IPB Image beats a little bit but I look forward to your comments.

Okay - here it is. not perfect but my first landscape drawing from a photo ( as ever with a little change) and the reference photo:

*rofl* I forgot to post the pictures.....

I like what you did with the waves and the sky. They both carry the eye toward the center of interest - the light house.

I saw two things that I think I would have done differently. I like how the limbs of the tree in the reference photo extends out over the light house. I also like the angle of the shore. You shortened the limbs and the shore seems flat in your drawing.

These ttwo lines would help carry the eye back into the picture and frame the the light house along with the slant of the waves and the clouds.

Of course this is just my thoughts. biggrin.gif

Great job, Martina. If you hadn't said it was a first time landscape, I sure wouldn't have known it. I think your rendition is wonderful and the subject matter quite pleasing.

It looks great. I would like to add to what Bob said, The water along the shore is as dark as your darkest shadows. This will give it the contour of the land.

Thank you so much all! Your comments make me very happy and encourage me!!!

Bob, Paulette and Adolpho,
thank you for your good advices. I saw what you mean and it helps SO much!! I didn't know how to change the flat shore, but now I can do it.

This is why it is so important for me to post my drawings here - I get praise, comments, advice - all what I need to go on and to become a good artist.

Did I mention that you all have become very important for me???

Littlebigshy hugs to all. IPB Image

Here is the "updated" drawing. Bob, Paulette - as you see I tried to do what you suggested. Hm - I hope I did......
Adolpho - I have problems with the big rock. But I think I know what I have to do next time.

The contrasts are not as hard as on the photo ... I'm no good photograph with my own drawings... IPB Image IPB Image

Martina - you must always remember when doing a landscape - the farther away an object is, the lighter it becomes.

In order to make it more realistic you must have the objects in the front be darker than the objects farther away.
