Full Version: My daughter, the artist
Drawspace > General > General discussion
Ernest Friedman-Hill
My 9yo daughter Danielle has been paying close attention to my drawspace antics, and I've been trying to do some nurturing. She drew Maya from last week's drawing challenge, and also a picture of Hermione Granger that I also just drew. Here are a few of her drawings:

The thing I like is how creative she is about how she does her work. She incorporates things I tell her, and adds her own twist. For both Maya and Hermione, she had my gridded photo and sketches to work from. She drew her own grids and made her own sketches, looking at mine, but deviating in whatever ways she felt like. Then she transferred them to other paper, like Daddy does. For Maya, she traced on tracing paper, then taped the tracing paper to bond paper, and colored the tracing paper with colored pencils. A very interesting effect. For Hermione, she used the window as a light box and traced onto more bond paper.

Wow a 9 year old. Children mimic us and its great that you and your daughter have the same interest, bonding time is very precious. She needs a pat on the back for her art work. Tell her well done.
