Sorry guys, I couldn't figure out how to turn them

Hi Elizabeth,
Cute dog!
I think you are doing a good job; a couple of things I noticed:
The (viewers) left ear is not as erect in your drawing, the droopy black part of the (viewers) right side of the mouth next to the tongue is smaller in your drawing and the left eye needs more white showing. You need to add more darker shading too.
Hope that helps, you are doing great. Looking forward to seeing the finished piccie!

I am still at the stage where each drawing I do is the best I've ever done. But I'm really happy with this one. I've been using Bob's advice about how to work with photos before drawing them, and it's really helped.

I started this for the "Tea Tree" challenge but didn't like the yellow tree. So I finished it in water colors.
I haven't tried water colors in nearly forty years.
Comments and suggestions appreciated.

I mean this as a compliment: this makes me think of the backdrops in the original Disney "Winnie the Pooh" film. It's lovely!

Do you mean the tree that was hollow and someone lived in it?

I vaguely remember something like that.
This tree has been topped and it is very odd looking. It also has a ton of wild grape vines running into it, so I had to do a lot of editing.

Lori, one of the other members started another Challenge where you had to make a tree using tea bags and ink I believe. As far as ink goes you can use india ink or pen. I don't think it matters but there were alot of cool tree pictures last time I looked. I may even try it now since I got resceduled to work Sunday instead of tomorrow night...hehehe.

thanks kim--yes its johnny cash and june cash. i know i struggled with that hair. its his older days. the portrait in the guitar was hard being so small. she does resemble loretta lynn. (thats my birth name--parents from west virginia) i think its the hair.

Hi Everyone!! Its been awhile since I have done a really good drawing that I was happy with so I decided to show off my newest one, completed in prismacolor pencils on watercolor paper. The picture it self is 9 by 12 and the paper size was 11 by 14. I am really proud of this one and I agree with my hubby for it being my best yet.

As well you should be -- wow! The whole environment is so believable -- it looks like it goes on and on outside the bounds of the drawing. The transparent effects are fantastic -- bubbles, reflections... Wow. Tell us something about how it's done!

Thanks Ernest. A while back ago I was searching for tutorials to help a member here on Drawspace for a watercolor picture she was doing of her dog. Well, I stummbled across a tutorial for drawing a dolphin in water using colored pencils. After looking at the artist demonstrations of the water effects and such of his dolphin I searched through my many free reference photos of dolphins and found one that moved me enough to do the drawing.
I took his examples of reflected light from the top surface and added my whites first. Then I did my rocks and sand. Then I started with the background a little at a time, and moving on to the mother dolphin worked her colors in leaving the whites mixed with skin tone, then did the baby. I finished with the water's color and then used a tortillion to blend the colors together to give it a shiney painting like effect. Also going back and forth with layering white over alot of the areas to bring the waters reflections out.
Here is the tutorial I found. It is really great for learning to draw underwater sea life. I learned alot from this somewhat small presentation. Hope it helps others.

. Jumped from beginner lessons to this, daft or what?

. Comments & tips on improving please & I know Paulette your going to say," add more dark" but I'm scared I might ruin it. When I've got further on in the lessons I will redo to see if there is an imovement.
