Thank you so much Joanie - gosh this must be such a big job for you!!

About your first question... seeing you put a LOL at the end of it I think you already have the answer!! biggrin.gif

And yes,you are right about the shoulders. That is something I have to do something about... they keep coming out like that so something must be basically wrong with what I'm doing.

Thank you once again - you're wonderful!

Martina - I'm so sorry about your dog and the hard time you're having. There must be something in the air lately! Hope you'll find time to join us at some point.
Venus
sad.gif Awww Martina, I am sorry about your dog. I hope the best and hope to see you around soon.

tongue.gif Painter, I will will work on my trapezoids some more. I love the way you decided to grade each persons drawings, that is sooo cool. I also am sorry I have gotten a little behind with my daily drawings. I made this deal with my girlfriend last week that we would take turns on Tuesdays and Thursday watching each others babies to get a break alone for a day type thing, well she finally got a job she has been desperately looking for and now I have two babies a day. LOL (good thing I got the major majority of the first lesson done!!) But I will do 3 days of gesture drawings today, I swear!!

You know awhile back ago, I went to figure-drawing.com, they have ebooks that you can purchase to help with drawing and I found one that was a complete gesture pose reference book. I mean any position a person could be in it has in this book. It was published in 1907 and somehow I downloaded it onto my computer and forgot about it and when I went back to the website I saw it was like $2.95 to purchase the download. I tried sending it to you becuase I thought you could use the material but it is 17.14 mb and my email wouldn't allow me to send it to you. I can't even send it to myself in email to download it to the other computer!! (Thats where my burner is, and I thought about burning a copy for you and sending it in real mail). If I figure out how to get it to my other computer I'll let you know. wub.gif

Ohh and I wanted to say you are doing an awesome job with the class and much better than I could possibly ever do!! Thanks!! happy.gif

Here are my final exercises for this week as far as posting goes. Sorry for the jittery effect of the last one. I'm hopeless drawing with a mouse but I thought this was the best way to do it for our purposes. The pics are scans from magazines as you suggested.

I hope there will be no equivocation about what everyone is doing with their hands this time! laugh.gif

Hi everyone,

I'm sorry, I'm really far behind with this. I am going to try and do some of the exercises tomorrow. Sorry Teacher blush.gif No apple, I'm afraid biggrin.gif

You are all doing really well and I must admit I am quite intimidated by it all, but I'll see how it goes tomorrow and hopefully post something.

Andrea
Venus
Rose and Shutterbug, excellent job to both of you. Looks like you are getting the basic principles down pretty well. I have just been doing the basic forms instead of the learner methods. I think I need to be practicing them alot more. It just seems easier doing it without them. So here are mine for the past few days.
JohnCampo
I have not been able to finish all the exercises as of now but here is what I have....I hope to finish the rest of the exercises soon. wacko.gif

Hey everybody! I haven't posted anything yet, but I'm working on it. When I was a little girl my Daddy used to call me "the cow's tail" because I was always trailing behind!! blush.gif I'm afraid that's what I still am; it has taken me this long to figure out how to download and print my lesson!!! My daughter has a softball game tonight, but I will try to work on it anyway. I'll do better next week, Elizabeth
Brian David Dekter
Thanks Tim...I know what you mean....lol....keep it up though my friend I think your drawings just get better and better!

Joanie thanks for your comments, and your efforts are very much appreciated....I am proud to be one of your students. smile.gif

Martina sorry to hear....we miss you too! wub.gif hugs , Brian

Hello Cynand Venus thank you for your nice comments smile.gif

Joanie I agree with what has been said already....you are doing a wonderful job and it is much apprechiated. I like the way you have put all of the pictures with the critiques in one post!

With the previous two drawings which I posted earlier and the following in this post I think I've got all the weeks assignments completed. For some reason the loose gesture drawings were the hardest for me to do. blink.gif

Hi Joanie,

I'm sorry to say that I think I've probably got too much on at present to put the effort it deserves into this class. You have done a fantastic job on the lesson and I will watch everyones efforts with great interest.
Perhaps, I can join the next class if things are a little quieter!
Thanks again.

Hi, here's what I have so far, I'm still working though biggrin.gif . Elizabeth

biggrin.gif Ok here are my practice exercises for today. I have been practicing by doing the gestural poses of my figures without the proportion guides. I don't know if the measurements are right or not but if you think I should add them Joanie, Let me know and I can go back and add whatever to them. Thanks. wub.gif
I love this class by the way and cant wait for week 2 lessons!! When are you sending them?
meow2000
Here are my figure drawing that did .

sorry there so late
Cyn
I love this class too. But, alas, I have Rose's flu laugh.gif and can't sit up more than a couple minutes. Maybe I have spring fever or something. Anyway, I am trying to sit up in bed and draw as I can. I am gone on week ends but I will be home this week end. Maybe I will be able to catch up by Sunday..
Have fun ... I am going back to bed now.. wacko.gif

P.S. I don't have magazines to get pictures from and I am too sick to surf the web and download stuff right now.. I guess I am going to fail the class. tongue.gif laugh.gif

Great critique, Painter girl... biggrin.gif
Ewall
OK, here are my magazine figures, that one was fun! Of course, if I was having fun, I probably didn't do it right!! biggrin.gif Elizabeth

Hi Everyone!

I would like to make a reminder to all.

Please keep your pictures 200kb

I have been keeping track of who has sent what and some of the things required are missing. You should have at least these 5 things sent to me and/or posted by Saturday night. If I don't receive them all, I'll not send the next lesson.

A FIGURE DRAWING - before starting the lessons.

Trapezoid, Oval figures, triangle method.

Cylindrical figures

Some Gestural Drawing

Magazine Cutouts with markings.

MY COMMENTARY: So far, only 2 people have totally completed their exercises and tomorrow night is your deadline. This tells me that there are a lot of people signed up who are not going to continue. Which is fine with me. I will continue the class as promised. My personal feelings are that I do not feel that these lessons are very hard but if you do not have the basics, you will never learn it. If you were to take a life drawing class, you would be asked to do all that and more in a one hour lesson and I have given a week. This tells me the interest level is low and the class is not what everyone thought it would be. I would very much like to hear some feedback on this so that I can adjust whatever needs adjusting. I will continue with the classes until the end for those that are participating.

Thank you !

P.S. JUDYVAN
- you're inbox is full and I couldn't send the email address where to send your drawing to.

joan i know that i have a few more to do--i think two more and a few more to post. i have been working 10-12hrs a day for the past 6 days, which i did not know when i signed up for the class. i do want to do the class--i am working very hard to get everything done and posted. its not that i am not interested, i am very much, and by the participating in the classes that i have been in should also show my dedication. i am running on 3 hours of sleep a night, i really appriciate your and venus hard work on this class i am working hard to get this done because i really want the next lesson. it just hurt my feelings that you think i dont want to dedicate to this class, or do the work because i do. i have been here for a long time now i thought everyone knew how dedicated i am and willing to learn. sorry if i have caused problems or upset you in anyway. thanks

When I was in Chem II in college, we got to a part where some bonds would form while others wouldn't. I had a terrible time remembering which was which because I didn't understand why this would happen. I found I just had to force my way through this portion of the class. That's where I am with trapezoids and triangles. smile.gif

OK, hopefully late is better than never -- I'll repost the ones I posted earlier for convenience.

Gestures done a while ago to try to get a certain pose down. Then trapezoid people, then contour drawings, then some with other methods such as triangles and cylinders.

[attachmentid=5020][attachmentid=5019][attachmentid=5016][attachmentid=5018]

Drawovers of some pics I got from Macy's and inmagine.com (I have no magazines around). Then, the guy at bottom left holding the basketball, in process -- started with a simplified skeleton as in the lesson, then added the flesh and erased the underdrawing. Needs to be refined further, then the clothes and other details added.

Hi Everyone - I've finally gotten a chance to look at all of your drawings. Everyone did a super great job on them - I'm very pleased. Hope you don't find your Lesson #2 so challenging.

I would like some of you to rework some of your drawings though and there were a lot of the magazine cut outs that could use some improvement. I would suggest that you keep trying at them, they are great practice. It seemed like some of you could draw the basic trapezoids, ovals etc. but when it came to identifying their angles on a magazine picture you seemed to be confused with the angles.

So here goes:

Blade [attachmentid=5068][attachmentid=5069][attachmentid=5070]

Brian[attachmentid=5071][attachmentid=5072][attachmentid=5073][attachmentid=5074]

I noticed a double post on the critiques.......could one of the mods delete the short one? .....I got knocked off line while I was posting and I guess it caused a double post. Also it caused 3 names to be skipped, I will repost them.

thanks,

Joanie
