Sorry to hear you're not feeling well, Joanie ... Here are the three sketches I came up with, as best I could with it having been the last week of the semester.

I should have added more shading, but I tried to show where the major muscle groups are. One of the main things I've learned from this series of lessons is the importance of placing the pubic arch at the bottom of the pelvis. Another really important landmark for me would be the clavicles, as well as the pit of the neck where they touch the top of the sternum. (Still having trouble placing that, I had been putting it too high and I think I overcompensated on these drawings.)

I have been working on two more drawings from references, which I'll post in my gallery and have a lot more shading on them. (They're about 95% and 65% done.)

I'm actually leaving in a few days for a two-week trip to eastern Europe, but I hope to be in contact via my laptop and wireless internet access. If you send me the next lesson, I promise to work on it. I'll be bringing my sketchbook anyway of course. smile.gif

Hope you're feeling better soon, Joanie! See you all in a couple weeks, if not sooner! (And no need to be all that jealous, I'm helping to chaperone some 65 college kids.) biggrin.gif

Thanks everyone for the well wishes.............I'm still coughing and sneezing. Thanks Tim, I could have really done without this.LOL

Brian you are the best! LOL or should I say Snoopy!!! LOL Laughing is a good thing!

I'm sure all of you will welcome a little break in the classes anyway. Just don't stop practicing or you'll be out of shape for next weeks lesson...............perspective. ugh - I can hear all of you saying that at once. LOL

Hope everyone had a great weekend and a great week coming up!

Love the new lesson Joanie.. Perspective. arghhhhhhh! Of course, maybe if I can learn it correctly, my drawings wouldn't look so lopsided. laugh.gif

Thank you and Venus for all the hard work.. wub.gif

biggrin.gif Joanie, glad to see you up and back with us. Though I must admit I stayed away from the computer yesterday and only just downloaded the next lesson. ( I haven't even looked at it yet.. blush.gif ) I have been wanting to try my hand at practicing the more businussy part of the art world so I have been learning all kinds of stuff on top of the figure drawing which if I plan on going into illustration is very important I might add, so I am not giving it up..LOL. I just found that to get your artwork into any of the business world you have to do portfolios and have some basic knowledge of Desktop Publishing and so on. It actually gets quite confusing...So I bought a business publisher program. Lets see how I comprehend this..LOL. Alot of hard work.....

Hi Joanie I'm having a terrible time trying to figure out the perspective of Megan .Are we looking down on her and is that how the point of view should be presented? I was trying to figure out the vanishing point and as I was drawing poor Megan was getting shoulders like a linebacker smile.gif

Is almost 2 months late too late to get in on this? I just signed up again after an absence of quite a few months. Surgery...lots of other stuff getting in the way? I really need some help with the human figure and this would be a great way to get started on learning it.

Thanks,
Terry

biggrin.gif Hi Tlq.. The figure drawing class is no longer available. Sorry, But I will try to work on something and maybe get another one running soon. Brenda just came out with a new lesson on the female figure that looks pretty good if you want to start there and try some of her exercises. I hope that helps. wub.gif
