Very neat drawing, Kat!
Here's another pile of scribbles. I guess I'm just too lazy to find another way to draw leaves

Or I haven't met a tree that would ask for another technique...

Audrius, i guess your are trying to be yourself which is good, that means an artistic approach rather than observing and putting on paper a realistic shape. So to be more clear there are two approaches; one is to copy a shape another is to interpret it. You just draw your interpretation and in my opinion that is what art is all about.

Elena, thank you for the link.
Here is another drawing in pen that I finished yesterday. It portraits a tree on the campus, near my office. The rest of the landscape is not as lonely as I drew it, but I simplified

However, the original tree is not as "straight" as my sketch; the trunk has more variations. I wonder, why I always realise those differences when the drawing is finished ??
Besides, drawing from reality was rather ... wet

These trees were several hundred yards from the footpath, up on a ridge. Even my dog couldn't reach that far!

It's not so painstaking as it seems... I did about an hour and half. I would worked more with that but mosquitos had different opinion.

The quick tree is quite good.
Here's my today little instant exercise - it looks a bit childish. It's the cherry tree growing in front of my house(my grandma had planted it) which attracts the attention of all kinds of people - tramps, yuppees, young and old. Dogs, too.
Everybody, apart from the dogs, is always looking up hopefully.

Hi everyone !
Very nice trees from everyone. It's interesting to look at all the different styles.
Here's my contribution. I did this a while back. It's a tree in a park close to my mother's previous house in Montreal's suburb in Canada. I believe I took 10-15 minutes with a 2B pencil.

Rafael: very good exercise my friend.
Kay: I love how you treat the negative spaces; that's something I still have to learn

Steve: nice style; quite loose but with nice textures.
I've been to the park today, sketching some tree roots; not very good results, but a good exercise. Try to scan it tomorrow at work.
