Very neat drawing, Kat!

Here's another pile of scribbles. I guess I'm just too lazy to find another way to draw leaves laugh.gif Or I haven't met a tree that would ask for another technique...

Audrius, i guess your are trying to be yourself which is good, that means an artistic approach rather than observing and putting on paper a realistic shape. So to be more clear there are two approaches; one is to copy a shape another is to interpret it. You just draw your interpretation and in my opinion that is what art is all about.

i just found an interesting site on how to draw trees from life. video and masters examples. check it out.see all links on the left under All of my drawing lenses:

cool thanks for sharing elena wink.gif
Claudio Pousa
Elena, thank you for the link.

Here is another drawing in pen that I finished yesterday. It portraits a tree on the campus, near my office. The rest of the landscape is not as lonely as I drew it, but I simplified smile.gif

However, the original tree is not as "straight" as my sketch; the trunk has more variations. I wonder, why I always realise those differences when the drawing is finished ?? confused.gif

Besides, drawing from reality was rather ... wet glare.gif

claudio that is a beautiful job..
ElenaM
I like how you drew the bark and crown, Claudio. It's very dramatic.

Here are my trees. I tried different techniques with inkpen. I actually cheated with last one. This is not from real life. The other ones are.

Here's a very quick sketch of my back yard from my balcony - I would have liked to draw more but it's very inconvenient and rainy.

happy.gif These trees were several hundred yards from the footpath, up on a ridge. Even my dog couldn't reach that far!

I would have to have a pen with at least 10 points on it before I'd even attempt doing something that painstaking ..I like the colored ink too..

It's not so painstaking as it seems... I did about an hour and half. I would worked more with that but mosquitos had different opinion. smile.gif

I kind of forget about time and everything around when I'm drawing.

a quick tree, or an attempt at a quick tree rolleyes.gif

It's a good start chris. smile.gif

Thanks Steve! biggrin.gif
Sveta17
The quick tree is quite good.

Here's my today little instant exercise - it looks a bit childish. It's the cherry tree growing in front of my house(my grandma had planted it) which attracts the attention of all kinds of people - tramps, yuppees, young and old. Dogs, too.
Everybody, apart from the dogs, is always looking up hopefully.
sipsik
I've made another drawing. There are quite many trees. This is a view to mansion not far from my home.

Thanks a lot, Claudio! You're being very kind to these instant squiggles of mine. There's another one- a trumpetvine in my back yard.

So many trees! We'll have a forest soon.

I love seeing the different styles and mediums emerge.

Here is another I did yesterday - a watercolour pour with a birch tree in my garden.

Hi everyone !
Very nice trees from everyone. It's interesting to look at all the different styles.
Here's my contribution. I did this a while back. It's a tree in a park close to my mother's previous house in Montreal's suburb in Canada. I believe I took 10-15 minutes with a 2B pencil.

My admirations for that lovely aquarelle.

I did this quick sketch, becouse I try to understand structure of the branches of tree, for this reason I concentrated in the form how branches are united to trunk

Interesting study Raphael. Kay! Love the negative spaces working on this. Makes the lights really stand out!

Quick sketch I did on Bodmin Moor. It was pouring with rain and I was trying to hold my sketch pad and an umbrella! A5 pad, 2B pencil

oliverandjazz
ty steve and for multitasking yours looks pretty darn good too wink.gif
Claudio Pousa
Rafael: very good exercise my friend.
Kay: I love how you treat the negative spaces; that's something I still have to learn sad.gif
Steve: nice style; quite loose but with nice textures.

I've been to the park today, sketching some tree roots; not very good results, but a good exercise. Try to scan it tomorrow at work.
