Ok, so this may sound dumb, but are you supposed to squidge up your putty erazer?, I've been using mine as it was sold in a nice neat square.

Yes, Every time it gets dirty (which happens in about 2 seconds) you knead it so the clean insides come to the outside.

But if you've been leaving it square, you're missing most of the fun. You can mold it into a point to erase a tiny dot. You can mold it into a "leaf" with a sharp edge to erase a line, and so on.

Mine is a blob now. I started the same as you, now it is one of my favorite tools! smile.gif You can squeeze it so you can erase a fine line, you can make a wedge and pat away a fine layer of graphite. If you have a really dark area that you want to erase, you take it away layer by layer then use your white eraser, less chance of it staining.

I absolutely loved mine, but I think my son thought it was Silly Putty and he took it!! I rolled it out to put fine lines in my graphite pencil drawings, mash(can't think of a better word right now!) it on a drawing to take out some of the shading, it also blends very well; it is an awesome little eraser. smile.gif Elizabeth

Okay, I've got one and when I squeeze it to erase a fine line, it collapses when I apply any pressure on the paper huh.gif . The same happens if I knead it into a point. Am I just being to heavy handed? blush.gif

Yes! laugh.gif

I find that graphite practically jumps off the page onto a nice clean kneadable eraser. You just need to tap very gently, perhaps tap, tap, tap, a few times. There's no pressure involved.

I guess we'll both be at the art store for erasers, my son thinks mine is SillyPutty!! Which wouldn't be so bad if I only knew where he put it tongue.gif Elizabeth

Yeah, I just like playing with it as I draw and as I kneed it more and more it get stiff and it collects dust. It is quite useful to erase something a regular eraser couldn't but it doesn't really erase very well. Thats why I always have another one on hand that can return the paper to white.

biggrin.gif LOL Ewall, your son thinking it being silly putty is better than my 2 yr old daughter thinking it belongs in the washing machine and then it getting dried in the dryer!!! Talk about a mess and ruining clothes. I was furious!! ( Just happened to be new summer clothes I bought for myself too) sad.gif
Ewall
That's funny Venus, when my son was about that age he left a brown crayon in his pants, imagine that in the dryer!! I was scared to touch the clothes until I figured out it was only crayon! laugh.gif Kids are funny! Elizabeth
