I cant believe it Trish! more studying I have done and I am sure of it! I have made a post with photo on my blog, one photo from lupus website, and my own.

Now my question is
Do you accept federal blue cross and blue shield? and how much is my copay? laugh.gif
kim1963
I saw the two photos .. wow would be nice to find out what it is .. not that I want you to have lupus ...I dont know is that a bad thing .. maybe trish could answer that ?

oliverandjazz
yes, that bottom one is from the lupus site, the top one is my own, i have been reading all nite here on it since she mentioned it and I am certain she is right
tomorrow i will find a new doctor and make an appt.. i am so excited, not to have it but to maybe once and for all know what the heck is going on..
It is not contagious, but it is unsightly, and is scarring me badly.
kim1963
seems they would have checked you for that already .. I think lupus is fairly common .. I mean well not common but known ...its a shame if you can come online and have someone tell you what you have without even checking you out .

Trish it is good to have people like you in our lives smile.gif

I know, well I just called the place I used to go and asked them to please have my husbands doctor give me a call.
the secretary acted like i had the nerve to ask the doctor to give me a call, (i may as well have called the whitehouse and asked to speak to my homeboy barrack and invite him over for a beer)

anyway, the secretary says well Dr. (whooie) is your Doctor, I said "First of all, NO HE ISNT, I think I made that perfectly clear on my last visit, I cant stand the man, and he himself sent me a letter telling me he is no longer my doctor, and not for nothing none of that even matters lady, I simply asked for my husbands doctor to return my call thats all.

So if the untouchable doctor feels so inclined I may receive a phone call or I may not!! We'll see how it goes..I am quite soured to this clinic and the people in it..

Kay,my daughter is going through the same..its been a year now..and zillions of doctors later..tests..she is finally almost to a diagnosis. She has the same red spots that come around her joints..and waist..along with pain pretty much all over..feet..legs..arms..back.. she is tired..all the time..and pretty down..she goes back to the rhuematologist in sept after the specialized testing comes back...but they are leaning towards Lupus and Psoratic arthritis..if that is any help..good luck Kay! dont give up..be persistant..You are your own best advocate...find a doctor that cares..they are out there.
oliverandjazz
wow no kidding kat, I do hope they reach a diagnosis soon for both of us..

TrishO116
Hi Kay,
So glad I popped in here and saw your post. Lupus, as you probably have read by now, can have internal manifestations too. What you see on the skin is just the tip of the iceberg as far as your internal organs go. I hope you get a confirmation of the diagnosis by someone "hands on" soon.
I am a retired medical secretary, and did lots of transcription in radiology departments and medical records departments and as secretary to a radiation oncologist. I also suffer from psoriatic and rheumatoid arthritis, and have been on heavy duty medications for years, which seem to "control" my disease. There is no cure, just treatments for symptomatic relief. Lupus is an arthritis related disease. The popular singer "Seal" (Kissed by a Rose?) has lupus, don't know if you have ever noticed the scarring on his face.
Please keep us informed as to what you find out. Take care of yourself,
Love,
TRish
kim1963
bless your guys heart .

Good luck! And try not to assault the Doc. Everything crossed here again. Can you feel the healing vibes? ))) ))) ))) ))) smile.gif

Try putting more air in the tyres, and oiling the chain. smile.gif

sounds like its time for a hysterectomy kim, It has been wonderful to be free of the dreaded 'cycle' for these past few years.

So my doc today is looking into Celiac sprue (I have no idea if that is spelled correctly) and I have yet to go look it up..but he is pointing in that direction and I have never heard of this, He is going to take a biopsy of my duodenom (dont know if that is spelled right either) but he scheduled me for the biopsy on the 9th, only a couple weeks away..
I am off now to go and look this 'celiac' stuff up
texaslady-59
Thanks for letting us know .. I'll have to go look it up too..

Kim .. Endometriosous ? Spell check just went CRAZY !!
oliverandjazz
I also want to moan some more about my ruby..she runs simply wonderful, as long as I only surf, play here on drawspace, these past few months I can no longer watch movies, hulu, dvds...it completely shuts off..no notice, no warnings, just playing beautifully to shut off..very quickly. So That is what i want to fuss about..for all the good it does me tongue.gif

I am looking now and it seems a grain issue, gluten, hmm..never thought of that, i do eat loads of whole grains, and wheat and rye and what ever i can to eat 'healthy' Knowing my luck I have been causing damage to myself by trying to do the right and healthy things for us.
texaslady-59
Well Kay..not to take what you have Lightly ..but.. I am relieved that it was NOT lupus..
I agree with you on killing ourselves Healthy.. I hear that a lot lately.. I didn't hear any bad stuff about how you were treated by the Doctor and Staff so I suppose Hubby going with you either worked or the sun and moon and stars were all lined up in your favor..
Ruby needs an Attitude Adjustment !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
oliverandjazz
I know hunh..and if this test comes back clean he says he will send me to be checked out by a rheumatologist
but at least someone is actually starting to listen..this doctor actually 'looked' at my arm unlike the others from across the room..he even took notes., It was a very satisfying visit to know that we are at least going to TRY to find the problem.

In my humble opinion... Most doctors are complete idiots. A few years ago I had some sort of weird allergy or something... I'd wake up and my eyelids and ears would be all swollen & itchy, and sometimes it would only be one side, like right eyelid and right ear... Looked like I got beat to a pulp. After a few hours the swelling went down, and it was totally unpredictable when it would happen again. I wasn't eating anything unusual, not using a different pillow. Anyway, I finally just went to the emergency room when it happened again, although the swelling had almost gone down again. The doctor glanced at me and said it was probably a stye and a blocked inner ear not letting wax drain properly (two unrelated conditions). I didn't have an ear infection, and no visible stye, yet he ordered some eye ointment and an EXTREMELY painful ear flush that had me literally crying in pain, in front of my 5-year-old who I'd had to bring with me. I'll never forgive that doctor, and for the most part doctors never fail to disappoint me with their incorrect and sloppy diagnoseses.

The swelling thing happened now & then during that year, one time my eyelids swelled so much I could barely see, along with the ears and a rash down my back. But I didn't have trouble breathing, so never went back to a doctor, and eventually it stopped happening. My husband insisted it was just stress. But wouldn't it be glorious to be able to trust medical professionals to just TELL us what's wrong the first time? Good luck to you Kay, hope your skin condition is nothing serious. wink.gif
oliverandjazz
thanks mindy, I tell ya i always feel like an 'alien'..like i must be soooo different from everyone else. wink.gif cause they have NEVER diagnosed me right the first time with anything.
Songsparrow
I am happy to say that my experience of Doctors has been the complete opposite! I have never been really ill untill I had my heart attack, but the treatment and care I received was second to none! And prior to that, every Doctor I have ever seen has been outstanding! Just lucky I guess!
kim1963
pretty much same here ....but my mom had the swollen lips that were so big they split .. I personaly think its a Autoimmune diseases thats a overactive immune response of the body against substances and tissues normally present in the body. ...most people that have swoolen hands or eye lids lips ect...never get the right answers because when dealing with the autoimmune system its tricky ...and as one ages they say that happens and its just something our bodies do . I am not a Doctor at all but use to be a Hyperchondriac and trust me i research everything to its end .

It took me a while to wise up Kay.......I thought you must have been doing woodwork! tongue.gif laugh.gif ..... but on to more important things...........

As far as the rash goes Kay - I think your Gastro guy is right the rash is called Dermatitis Herpetiformis, and is associated with Coeliac Disease (sometimes called the old name Coeliac Sprue). Here is a description of the rash and the reason that it can be hard to diagnose is that it can take several forms depending on the person & their reaction to what is going on in their body.

"The rash may be small lumps, like insect bites (papules), some with tiny fluid filled blisters on top. These small blisters are called vesicles. However it can also appear hive-like, persisting in one area, or it may look like a pink and scaly dermatitis."

Also there are only about 10% of the people with the rash have the usual gut problems that most doctors use to diagnose Coeliac Disease. A biopsy of a lesion will be able to tell the doc if its DH from a gluten intolerance associated with Coeliac Disease.

Actually you have started me thinking about a skin reaction that I get on & off and have done for years.......I might just try a gluten restrictive diet and see what happens. Like you I have scars on my arms from these things too.

Can we have a 'Dear Sue' thread? smile.gif

I'll be Sue. smile.gif
oliverandjazz
LOL you silly boy!

I think he may actually be on to something too sue..I was thinking to go ahead and start cutting some of the stuff out that i eat now, but then i think 'no, i should not change anything yet, in case doing so may affect this test, so i shall continue eating as i normally do until I Hear from him after this biopsy.
but the more i think on it, the more i think he really may be on to something.
EVERYTHING in my home is wheat, rye, whole grains, oats, that kind of thing,
our soaps are also handmade, - though i havent used them in years (quiet steve! tongue.gif ) I have been using the cetaphil to bathe with that the dr. told me to use years ago.
Outside of my smoking, everything i do i try to be healthy about..

I have always felt 'alien' around a dr. it took em 20 yrs to get it right about the hep c, (course the hep c virus wasnt discovered till the late 80's)
they had me thinking i was a real nut job..
I had stomach pains in my side for several years and they kept telling me i had cyst on my ovaries, turned out that i had stomach adhesions, my lower intestine adhered to the wall of my tummy.
then the whole hysterectomy thing, paps always clear, 'oh there is nothing wrong, paps are fine..only to find upon removal some uteran disease that doesn't show up on a pap..
so yes, I dont ever trust the first thing the first doctor tells me any more..EVER..I have never had good luck with doctors NEVER
and that last dr. (the one that i had the police called on me for) was simply the culmination of the aggravation I have dealt with over the years with these overeducated goobers.

Kay, I often reccomend to my patients with skin rashes and dry skin to avoid soaps and try using Sorbolene cream instead - it cleans and moisturises at the same time. Just get plain old sorbolene - not one with fragrances or lanolin or anything else.......its about the cheapest moisturiser around, and so many dermatologist reckon its better than anything alse around.

The other thing that you can do is use bran - just get some from a health food shop or the health aisle in the supermarket - just pop some bran in the the toe of a stocking - knot it and then use it as a soap, or you can hang it from a tap and run the bath water over it (the water will look milky) and then use it like a soap too. It is recommended for people with extremely bad exczema.

Steve, you can be me..............but I want to see pics of you in that nurse's uniform! laugh.gif
