Hum... this could go down hill very quickly talking about swelling and glands..
Sorry to here you can't eat Steve.. How about some shaved ice with a little bit of your beverage of choice? Or maybe ICE CREAM!
Come to think of it.. when I was a kid, I had my tonsils removed and I couldn't open my mouth far enough to get the spoon in.. so never did get my Ice Cream
Good luck and don't loose your perspective we really need your help in that area!

it was so awful I was WICKED P.O.'ED..I have a skin condition, hepatitis C, chronic kidney/bladder problems..took em 20 yrs to figure out my hep c, kept me thinking i was a depressed hyperchondriac,by the time they figured it out, guess what, I have now a terrible liver, and other problems coming from it. good think i was never a drinker or it would be much worse, cirohssis, not just for drunks. I have it too
Now this skin condition developed over the past 8 yrs oro so,,eating me alive, scarring me terribly, and my doctors keep switching on me, been thru like 6 in a year, cause they keep leaving the clinic, this last doctor, (cambodian) not an american doctor among the lot of em..cant hardly understand what the **** he is saying to me, first time i seen him, I had to start at the beginning, AGAIN (keep in mind this is like the 6th one in a year so i am getting sick of starting over at the beginning), anyhoot, none of these drs, can diagnose this skin condition, I am getting scarred severly, they can only tell me what it isn't,
it isnt: impetigo, scabies, allergies, acne, shingles, psiorias, etc
(yes even from the 2 dermatologist i went to) they cant tell me what it is either.. now here is what annoys me to no end..they all, everyone of em, just look at me from across the room, NOT ONE OF EM, has taken a sample, a swab, a biopsy, nothing, natta...over the years, and it is getting much worse and so is the scarring..
that is one issue..now my chart is well documented that i have chronic kidney/bladder problems, NOT ONE HAS HAD ME PEE IN A CUP IN YEARS..I have been having lots of bladder pain. that is another issue
and No one was taking my hep levels, that really ****** me off..I HAD TO ASK, AND EVEN TELL THEM HOW TO PKG IT ( I have had to go back and have my blood re taken cause they are too stupid to know how to pkg it correctly) several times..and then because the dr. didnt order it, i had to, my insurance wont cover it...I MEAN JESUS CHRIST!!! FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS WITH A **** BRAIN
this doctor was about to dismiss me for the third time, telling me i can live with it, it is superficial, use neosporin,
WHAT!!! GUYS! I WIGGED ON THAT NO GOOD DORK!!
I told him every **** time i come here, they get fist fulls of money from me and my insurance and I leave without so much as a diagnosis..and I told him our conversation was OVER, NOW...I stormed out of his office SLAMMED HIS DOOR AS HARD AS I POSSIBLY COULD...(by now the whole clinic can hear me and the doors) went to the receptionist, slammed that glass door open so hard it broke, and told her THEY BEST NOT SEND ME A BILL FOR THIS BULL ****!!
and stormed out of the building..
NEEDLESS TO SAY, I am done, as soon as this dentist is done with my jaw...I AM ALL DONE, if something gets bad enough, call an ambulance, cause i am simply done dicking around with useless office visits, they dont listen, they simply collect money, and I have better places to spend mine..
anyway, the cops were called and sent to my house, the cop actually comiserated with me, and told me he quit taking his mother to this hospital/dr group because of the same..
so there is my story..
**** DORKS!!

I know this might not be much help, but I can send you a cup to pee in if you want?
Move to England. You'll get free NHS treatment of the highest order. Any test you like, free. No worries! No need for insurance. Unless you want it? In which case you can go private. And you'll get the best NHS Doctors.

I think it is skin cancer...that is what concerns me, i am redhead, freckles, fair skin to no end, and from the tropical areas, too much sun maybe as a child? I dont know, but i do think it is skin cancer, why couldnt they at least take a sample, years ago..

Jul 10 2009, 04:46 PM
Ok first off ...to steve ...swollen glands could mean something different coming from you ...lol but I am glad you are getting what you need hun .
Kay ...I have what is called Lichen Planus ..my doctor had no clue so he sent me to a skin doctor and he called it that ..I also have it in my mouth at times .. very bothersome ....check that out research it hun . because those who have Hep c can get that ..its pretty rare and no cure but a bother .. your body has trouble fighting and I know you reseach so your up on all your health issues ..its getting the doctors to see it .
My husband has Hep C antibodies but has never had it effect his liver yet .. he got it when he was a young teen from his factor ..he is a hemophilac ..its a blood disorder and he bleeds in the joints ect ..the factor when he was younger came from blood donations and he got it that way ..his brother had the same problem and he ended up with HepC and HIV he passed away 3 years ago to a over dose ...living with hemophilia is bad enough but add the Hep C and the HIV and he was just depressed .. the over dose was not done on purpose but he did alot of drugs to deal ..one night he did one too many.
I do know where you are coming from kay and i hope you can find someone to work with you . Hep C should be checked each year if not 6 months ...the liver rebuilds itself ...have they talk to you about interfiron treatments ? a friend of mine in vegas had Hep C and his liver was damaged but after treatment it was gone he now test negitive but still can not give blood .
One last thing I would think if they thought for a second it was skin cancer they would have taken a sample ...and I do not think you would be getting scars from it .. it would not heal nor would it pop up all over .. check out that site on Lichen Planus .

Jul 10 2009, 05:27 PM
nope thats not it either, it is on my upper left arm and my lower right arm..very strange, leaves big white scars.
i have been thru those treatments, a year of them, they did work, but they still need to check my levels once in a while without being 'directed' to do so..
after that fight with that dr..i called the hospital admin and lodged a complaint against him..and she says to me after listening to why i was so irate 'do you think it is your hepatitis doing it?"
I bit my lower lip really hard to stop from screaming at her, THAT IS WHAT I GO TO YOU PPL FOR..i am asking you guys!!

Where's Steve? Are you getting better with the swollen gland - antibiotics working I hope!
I don't have anything important to gripe about - I'm annoyed about missing a great photo last night. Bill and I went out to try and get a couple of shots of deer in a bean field near the house. As we're setting up Bill says "wouldn't it be funny if a bear walked out of the woods?" Guess what happened 30 seconds later and guess WHO DIDN'T HAVE THE LENS CAP OFF HER CAMERA????

It was a juvenile bear - just meandering across the road looking at us like "hey what's up?"
I did manage to fire off two shots - shutter speed was set way too low so I have a ghost bear photo. We're going back tonight to see if Mr. Bear will come out and let me get a prize-winning shot.

You would think by 2009 someone would put CLEAR plastic Lense cover on the Digital Cameras (assumption on my part) since there is no film to expose.. at least you would have a shot at something when things like this happen ;-)

I know! And I'm only a paltry 11 stone now!

What's strep? Sounds pretty cool! Is it something I can brag about? Or is it something horrible I should really worry about?

Had a really busy day, couldn't get back to the quack today, but I have a free day tomorrow. It worries me that I can't open my mouth! Not even to clean my teeth properly. The inside of my mouth is like a moth wing! I'm bloody starving! Because I arrived home from work before my wife, I had to cook the evening meal! Can you imagine that? I'm a pretty healthy eater usualy! and all I can manage is soup. You can have too much soup. Fortunately! I managed to unearth a nice bottle of German White wine (OK cheap plonk) and it's going down rather well.

What do they have for art supply stores in london? There must be TONS of em!

Don't know. I'm a long way from London. The last lot of supplies I bought were from
Jacksons. The art stores here are pretty expensive for what I need, which is usually half pan paints. There is a big independant retail store that sells quite a lot of art supplies , about 10 miles away, and if I happen to be that way, I'll pick up watercolour paper pads from there. Pencils I buy from local stationary stores.

I live in Philadelphia PA and the stores never have what I want either.. and you have to go into center city to get to the real art stores and with that pay extra city tax, $3 for 15 minutes parking if you can find a spot of $7 in a lot for an hour.. So paying shipping is a wash for me if the local craft store doesn't have it.
