I think he's referring to the chat discussion.
The only thing wrong with voice chats (imho) is that everyone is either silent or is stepping all over one another & it gets confusing.
But, hey, you're out there thinking about stuff that would work! Kudos to you man!

You know, I go to a monthly Artist Guild meeting here in my hometown. We are encouraged to bring in our work to display it to the the other members during the meeting. Some but not all members bring one or two pieces, and then present them to the group. They tell them what inspired them to draw or paint it, why they chose the subject they did, what medium they used, and discuss any composition techniques, problem areas and difficulties they encountered.
Then the viewing members get their chance to speak to the Artist, offering praise, criticism, or critique of the piece. It only takes about 10 - 15 minutes to show two pieces, but the time is well spent on the knowledge that actual artists provide you. Plus, it gives you a chance to get help on specific areas you may be having problems in. Then afterward, many of the members will discuss with you offline in more detail.
This could be easily put together in a chat format on this site. Like have a meeting maybe every two weeks, and possibly at two or three different timezones.
Oh, no! I just forgot. If we did the timezone thing ... Woo would be at every meeting.

My biggest problem is that i spend so long typing these posts (two fingers and all!), that i am neglecting my art.
I am however with Venus on this, I really enjoy being here, and sometimes i hang out and post with nothing really to say. You all have done that to me, leading me astray!!!
Seriously though, i like the idea of an art clinic/surgery every month say where questions and the like can be shared, but i would be quite happy if it stayed as is also (boo, on the fence).
Anyhow let me be the first to wish everyone a verry merry Christmas. lol

Truly, this board is so much more active than the site before the crash. I, too, find myself spending more and more time here, even though I don't post a reply to every topic.

School has already started here, and my son isn't interested in Halloween any more, so I don't have to worry about those, though school supplies did put a pretty big dent in my checkbook. Ironically, it was the art supplies that cost the most!
Like you, I have no money. That's why I have to start early, so I can afford to buy everyone something.

Definitely drawing and producing my own Christmas Cards this year. Think birds. But I can't for the life of me figure out how to draw snow with a pencil.

In the book Drawing for Dummies, Brenda has a really fun exercise of drawing a winter scene. What you do is to cover your entire drawing surface with charcoal, then use kneaded and white vinyl erasers to add trees and snow. Then you use a charcoal pencil to add tiny details. I have my first one posted in my gallery, but these were so much fun, I think I did half a dozen.
Kind of makes me want to go do another...Now. let's see, where did I put my charcoal sticks?

I will have to look for the pic too Woo can't do snow well at all. I do remember back in HS when we were doing acrylics in art class I came up with a pretty pink, orange and purplie snow scene. I was focusing on the sun setting and it being all the prettypatel colors with pink and purple and orange being the mjor colors. Drawing is a totally diffrent thing for snow though..actually sounds harder than I am sure it probably is. Man I can't wait for school to start...2 more weeks here

ok this was done really quickly so excuse the mess plus i could only find amongst my unpacked stuff a 4B cheapy pencil and some jotting paper ..
so first i sketched out what i wanted very roughly and very faint ...
then i added the snow and rubbed out the lines that wasnt needed placed some shading where i wanted the shadows to be to give more depth .. i hope that makes its easy for people to draw snow

Hi everyone,a team discussion would be great but it may be more realistic to not have it in chat form.
then the time zone wouldn't really matter.Perhaps we could just discuss several drawings and next time go onto the next in alphabetical order...Brenda has critiqued one of my works and it was brilliantly helpful..hugs to you all Lorrir from down under.[attachmentid=61]

Yeh I agree, Art is for Artists i.e. anyone that wants a go and enjoys it, Leave the rest to the critics Who are? I don't care for them much.

Excellent examples Woo. I think I see it. A white area, slightly outlined and slightly gray shaded toward the middle of the mound of snow on the edge with a few gray streaks to define any lumps in an area where no white should be on the ground. Snow!
Thank you so very much.
