Meow, you know this challenge is sooo great!! I love cats the bigger the better. Infact because I literally suck at drawing cats I have been practicing from my 9 year old daughters library book she checked out at school by Lee J. Ames, Draw 50 Cats...So I will try your challenge out if I can find the time this week.

Here is my lion for the challege. He was a bit harder to draw then i thought he would be . This also my frist lion drawing
Venus If don't time this week i can make the challage go for two weeks . I didn't pot into mind how hard drawing the big cats would be.

Meow, Awesome job on the lion!!! Yeah, it does look like a lot of work to do them. Even regular cat poses from a simple "how to" book are a little challenging to get them in the right position and perspective. Its a great challenge though. I saved all of the pictures to try one.

Oooo Meow, great job! The lion looks so dignified.
Drawing the whole lion is too much work for me since I always feel compelled to draw every single fur, heh. So I tried to do a closeup of the head. The proportions are a little off... I just grabbed a watercolor pencil and didn't (couldn't) erase much.
Done in... I think 2 hours:

I'm a little late I guess, but decided to draw the cats anyway. I did this one first. Both drawings have their obvious flaws, but I've been working really hard on getting overall proportions right when drawing freehand, and at least compared to some past drawings, I think I'm starting to improve.
I'm just now noticing that the end of her tail looks alarmingly like a toilet bowl brush! Oops.
For the second one I drew just the head and tried to go with a more minimalist approach. When drawing animals I always feel the need to fill up all the space with something...so it's fur...and the result isn't always happy. So here I tried to pull back. Again a long ways from perfect...the eyes in particular don't seem balanced...but better than I've done in the past.

Dan,
I think you did a great job. Especially doing free hand. Now you will find that your shading and texture are going to bring it to the next level. Your always welcome to go back and do old challenges, whatever inspires you to do art. Once it is posted it comes back to the top and we will see it.

Here's my "cheat" entry. I used my graphics tablet this time, and I was drawing directly over the photo. So it's a completely different game from drawing freehand on paper. This is why I love my graphics tablet.

It creates a lovely stunning effect Dan and you can use this one to compare to your freehand drawing to see where you need to make changes.

Hi Dan,
I would say that it shows how well you did by hand. Both make good practice for teaching yourself to "see".
