This is excellent RJS. Man, I wish I had the talent to shadow folds like that. It makes me almost want to just jump in there and sink like I'm floating on a cloud. I'll bet this technique is very similar to techniques to shadow clouds as well, right? How much of the drawing is actually penciled in? It looks like you only have about 4 or 5 actual lines, and the rest is just shading.

Yep, only about 5 lines, then the rest was loose washes gradually getting darker until the basic shape was achieved. when i was happy with it, i started adding the dark folds.
As for clouds, I haven't quite mastered that one yet, though it's not for the want of trying!!
Glad you like it Eric, I am very pleased with the result, though i did look at it afterwards and wonder how i did it so well.

Maybe if I woulda saw the watercolor last night at about 3am when i was still online I woulda went to bed then instead of at 4:30am..but after looking at it now I am gonna go to bed soon since its 1:14 am right now..lol Great Job!!!

Venus, I just noticed you are from Novi, MI. I am originally from Grand Ledge, MI. Do you know where that is? Now, the family is mostly centered around Charlotte, MI. I've been to Novi a few times as a youngster, mostly with Boy Scouts and such.
