biggrin.gif Hi All..I was checking out and reading some of the threads on Art Business on Wetcanvas. I came across this website called http://www.artwanted.com/ .... Its a really great site and you can sign up to be a free member or a paying member with a $5 fee every month for unlimited space for posting your pictures. When you upload your pictures there you can price them and sell them (which I haven't posted any of mine to be sold). You can sell your originials or offer prints. Like any site yo have to read terms of use for the site to find out all of the rules, but for those out there looking to make money, it seems like a legit site to me. Once your pictures are posted, NO ONE can right-click save them and try to steal them. So if you check it out let me know what you think. wub.gif

I checked it out briefly. There is some nice art work on it. biggrin.gif

I did this to show you that if a picture is large enough it can be copied from a website with out the right click and save option. I did this with "Print Screen".
Venus
tongue.gif LOL Brb..There was one particular artist there that I thought was pretty good, until I started looking around the site more.. happy.gif

I'm actually not sure why you say the images are protected, Venus; they don't even seem to have done the standard trick of disabling the right-click menu (or if they have, they've done it in such a way that it's disabled in Internet Explorer, but works fine in Firefox, which I'm using.) Bob may have used a screenshot to get the above; note that another thing you can do, which also always works, is to "View Source" on the page, find the image's URL in the source, and open it in a new browser tab or window, and then save it from there. Blocking the right-click menu is actually a very weak protection.

They are sometimes difficult for me to find this way Earnist. If you are allowed to save the webpage to your hard drive and then view the folders with "Thumbnails", it is easier for me to find the picture files. biggrin.gif

So I was browsing that site for some cool artwork but there are too many darn artists! So I decided to browse the index page of artists under A and out of pure desire to stumble on somebody random I decided to hit the scroll wheel on my mouse as hard as I can and click on the name it lands on.

Well, guess who I stumbled upon!

smile.gif Brb...so if you enlarge the picture then it can be saved? Well darn!! It still looks like a cool site and you can sell prints and copies, or originals. I haven't decided if I want to sell any of mine so I didn't list them. I also ony signed up for the free membership, so maybe its the paid membership where you have the protected work??? Will have to check it out somemore today.
Venus
smile.gif Brb, I was right. If you do the payed membership your pictures are protected from right click saving. Anyways, I thought it looked pretty neat. Could be good, could be bad. I don't really know anyone there, let alone someone selling their stuff. I am thinking of signing up for the premium membership and checking out the forums and see what it has to offer. $5 wont break the bank...LOL. happy.gif

If you are going to show your work online always water mark them, its easily done, just let people know that the original is not water marked, there is far too much picture theft on the net, always take precautions if you dont want to have your work stolen or used.

I know a young man who draws in graphite pencil and isn't as good as most people who have posted pictures on Drawspace, who has a gallery website and he says he sells his work. biggrin.gif

biggrin.gif WOO!!! Hey Hunny!! How do you watermark your work? I have seen alot of them with it but no clue on how too? (Glad to see you here too by the way!!) Can you email me directions? wub.gif

smile.gif BRB, thats great too. At least with this site you can make money and not have to worry about sending the prints or getting them made. Plus they sell other products with your pictures and you make sales off of that but not as much as you would if it is a print. I am checking it out though. I haven't posted anything to sell yet, but I did upgrade my membership. tongue.gif
