help.gif I am trying to do a watercolor portrait of my yellow lab, Maggie. It's going pretty good, although I haven't gotten very far, but the eyes are killing me. How do you paint dog eyes with watercolor?! I am pretty good at drawing them, but painting them is another story!! Anyone have any suggestions? Elizabeth

biggrin.gif Elizabeth..I haven't played with my watercolors in awhile but masking fluid helps to keep white areas white. I would suggest that for the highlights in the eyes. I would say search the web and look for tutorials or watercolor lessons maybe in your search engine. Other than that use a crap paper and just play around with it until you get it right. I'll help you look and see if I can find something on the web as well for you..I seem pretty good at it. You would think with all of my "How To" book there would be something on watercolors but I don't have anything at the moment. rolleyes.gif

I hope these help you out..the first one seemed like it had pretty good details on a dogs eye even though it isn't a yellow lab. wub.gif

Thanks Venus, you were right, the first one was excellent!! I love working with watercolor doing flowers or landscapes, but this is my first attempt at a dog. It might be my last!! laugh.gif Elizabeth
