Hi Everyone. Welcome to Drawspace Cafe for the month of July.
I have to say for this month just starting out it has been pretty busy for me. First got stuck in Traverse City because my sisters minivan broke down. Found out her distributor was pumping too much gas and the van would just shut itself down. Then the ignition module got punctured to where there was no spark to start it. With the week being the 4th of July holiday we had to wait for parts and machanics to come back from their days off. So we finally pulled into my driveway Friday night at 10pm.
I got home thinking my house was going to be intotal shambles but was amazed to see my husband actually "tried" to clean for me and had alot of stuff done..except laundry..LOL. I am busy trying to get caught up on it now...lots more to do.
My shower is finally finished!! Happy about that. Now all I need to do is get back to my drawing. Hopefully, can start on something today or tomorrow depending on how quickly I get my laundry done.
I do have to say I had a great time up north as we call it. Beautiful weather, lots of swimming, and great country scenes. To bad it wasn't this week we were broke down up there, the Cherry Festival is this week and I heard they have different activities for families everyday during the Cherry Fest. Well, feel free to talk about whatever and let everyone know about yourself or just vent about what ticked you off recently.
Hey Venus, glad you made it home safely.
However, I'm not an expert but, I don't think the distributor pumps gas. It usually distributes a charge or spark, from the coil to the spark plugs. Are you sure it wasn't the carburator that was letting too much gas to the cylinders?

Brb, I have no clue. All I know is they said to much gas was going through and it was the distributor. It got replaced as well as the ignition module and we were good to go then. The van drove the 3 hours home with no problems. I thought the distributor is what distributed the gas to the correct places and through the carborator? I could be wrong as I have no knowledge whatsoever of engines. Though I do know where they are located now..hehehe.

My sister-in-law and her husband just left today after a weekend visit. My kids love them, so we got a little break from childcare while the kids played with them. But my ears are still ringing because, besides how noisy the kids are, my brother-in-law Bob talks really, really loud. The house seems so amazingly quiet now that they've left and the kids are back at camp.

My 4th was spent moving my daughter and her husband into their little rental house. After a solid week of cleaning, caulking and painting and then helping my brothers lay the carpet, we finally moved them in!! Last night was five nights away from home, I cried the first night and have been somewhat sad since. But, she is excited and the house is so cute, she finally found a sofa yesterday so they can take out the lawn chairs!
Does anyone else here have Restless Leg Syndrome? I do and I haven't slept a whole night in over a month

, I go to see another neurologist next week, maybe this one has common sense as well as book sense! Hope everyone has a good week, Elizabeth

I have been wounded...

It will be slow going as I am typing with one hand. I impaled my left hand on my umbrella tree yesterday. The dried broken branch went into my hand at the fatty part between the index finger and the thumb. I ran the branch up to my wrist bone..Luckily I missed the tendons. The worst part was I picked a day when our hospital was packed with car wrecks and helicopters. I was in the waiting room 2 1/2 hours before i could see treage and evaluate the damage. That may not sound like a long time but this is a small town and no one waits more than 30 minutes for a room. Anyway, part of my palm was laying on the back of my hand. When 5 year old Makayla saw it she said, "Oh grandma, that's gross. When the doctor fixes it, you're gonna scream like a sissy." Ha Ha Ha
It wasn't too bad until the doctor said "Look! It's laid open so wide I have my finger at your wrist.." I was very grateful she had small hands. LOL They had to irrigate it and get all the bark and debris out.. So I go back in 10 days to remove the stitches..Meanwhile I pray and thank Jesus everyday for my little accident. Why? Because I am so grateful that it wasn't a BIG accident.. LOL LOL
I looked at the tree today and the big branch has no bark on it for about 2 inches and it had flesh on it for about 4 inches. (which is the distance from the main entry point to the wrist,)
But I am fine and blessed with a high pain tollerence.
Well, there may not be any art and not much on mail for a few days. I just didn't want anyone to worry..
love ya all

I'm so sorry to hear about your accident; hope you have a quick and painless recovery.

Ouchies Cyn!! OMG I would be the biggest baby if it were me. I do not have a high tolerance for pain. Hopefully, you got some good pain killers?? hehe..I twisted my ankle about a week ago and I still have pain I whine about. I pulled the ligaments I know becuase there was a huge lump after I did it. Then the swelling came and huge bruise on my whole foot. The swelling is gone but its still tender in some areas. Though I refused to get it checked out by a doctor, it does seem to be heeling fine on its own. I also learned that when I sist at the computer for a while to make sure I check and see if both of my feet are awake before I try to move from my seat fast..LOL. Cause when they give out on you it can cause alot of damage. I hope you feel better soon and I am glad it was a minor accident instead of a huge one.

Hey Cyn, I can kinda relate, although our experience wasn't quite as bad as your! My daughter was walking across the floor in her room (she has a smal carpeted area) to answer her door and stepped on a toothpick. That doesn't sound so bad, except that it went in right under her pinky toe about 1 1/2 inches! That's just far enough that we absolutely could not make it budge without her screaming at the top of her lungs, and the Dr. in the ER had to slice her foot about 1/4 in to pull it out!! She was a trooper through it all, she was laughing when the dr. cut it out and then wanted to take it school the next day to show all her friends!! Don't you wonder why stuff happens sometimes?!! Thank you all for the kind words.
Venus and Elizabeth, feet injuries are much worse than hand injuries. At least you don't have to walk on your hands.

Feet and sprained ankles take a long time to heal because we can't stay off if them and they are the load bearing extremities..
And Venus, no they didn't give me anything for pain.

Good thing I'm tough!

I only get that when I've been on my feet all day. I find that the herb Valerian helps my legs calm down so I can get to sleep. Hope it helps.

We are waiting for the judge to make his decision. He has 30 days, so we should know by the 29th. Every time Makaylas mother takes her, we never know if we will have to get her to the doctor when she gets back, so I hope the judge helps the child soon.. and helps us.... This is still Idaho and it is really hard to save a child from a mother here. They take them from dads real fast though. We are hoping that the judges will start watching mothers after this. Soooo we are just waiting and praying..

I can only imagine what was going on that resulted a branch through your hand! And all you can think about is us worrying. I don't have a whole lot of tolerance for pain either. The most pain I have been in was in 6th grade when I had 10 teeth pulled from my mouth. They were mainly baby teeth so don't think I have an empty mouth.

Anyway I thought the feeling of getting those shots in my mouth was just excruciating. Although my dentist still congratulates me that I was so brave.
Now I just have really bad seasonal allergies. It has gotten worse over the years and now the claritin isn't working as it used to and occassionally I get bloody noses after sneezing.

So I am going to the doctor on Monday.
So all the best health to you all.

Poor baby....

At least my hand will get well, and allergies are the worst because they don't get well. My son has allergies. I would rather have the hand.

Good luck, hon...
And thank you Venus, darlin'

ooohhh cyn-hope your hand gets better soon. venus i am with you on pain toloerance. i cant handle it at all. i get a paper cut and cry like a baby. i keep neosporin on hand at all times. its great for burns too. i can not stand to feel a burn.
aviation-my son has real bad allergies too. and this year they seem worse. he has asthma as well, i just took him to the dr and they gave him nose spray and zyrtec and that really seems to help him. and dr thinking i may have allergies this year even though i have never had them before because i have had sinus infections one after another for the past few months. allergies can be soooo aweful. miserable my son is with them. hope you feel better soon too. this year seems to be bad with illness around here in ohio. people are getting the flu still and pneonia (dont know how to spell it) sinus infections and allergies. its something. i havent even went swimming this year yet.
venus also i know i use to think at times too cant wait for my kids to grow up-- now i miss when they were young so bad sometimes. they are still so much fun to be with but i miss the christmas's when they would wake up with such surprise and think santa was here--sprinkling reindeer food out side christmas eve, and leaving cookies for santa. going to the park, watching movies--kids movies (i still do that--by myself but i still do) just all the little things. cant wait for grandbabies. plus as they get bigger so do their problems. and i cant kiss there boo boo's away anymore. and they just refuse to sit on my lap and let me hold them anymore!!! i do ask but i get whatever mom your weird.

Lori, I know. I love to hate them being young though. I'm weird I know. They are at the fun stage though. So far this year I have done a couple of fun things with my older two girls. We have gone to see the Disney production of High School Musical play, which was awesome, then I took them to Traverse City with me where we had our weekend minivacation turn into a week vacation with lots of swimming and fishing, and yesterday I took them to work with me and my brothers fiance' to see the Disney Cheetah Girls. We had a blast!! I am thinking of using some of the photo's that came out clear and turning them into a poster for the girls or a tshirt. The prices were outragious at 35 bucks for a tshirt and 10 for a poster. Its just when you try as a parent to do something fun with them and afterwards they seem ingrateful that it really annoys me about kids and want them to grow up before their time is all. If that makes sense. I enjoy watching Disney with them and love kid movies myself. LOL as for the Cheetah Girls I actually knew alot of their songs because of various Disney movies. Now, I just have to find some boy themed stuff and do something fun with my son that he will enjoy is all. he just doesn't display an interest in anything yet which I am sure is because he is only 6. But I feel I am leaving him out. So maybe I will take him to see Shrek 3.
As for the rest of my weekend. I had a pretty awesome weekend. Friday I saw a great Firework show in Taylor Michigan, and Saturday I saw the band Kansas, which I only knew one of their songs "Dust in the Wind" and then came Reo Speedwagon which has been one of my favorite bands/groups since I was 5 years old knowing the song " I can't Fight This Feeling" by heart. I have always wanted to go to their concert but never had time or never got tickets and got to see it free because of the company I work for. I had a blast. Having all of the Glow merchandise was awesome and I stood out cause the main singer for Reo made a comment about my booth.

They said he is amazing and has a wonderful personality, not like some rich snob..LOL. but those concerts sound worth traveling for!!!

When I lived in Las Vegas as a young girl .. my dad took us to a Wayne Newton show and my aunt worked at the Hilton where he was playing and got us back stage .. we got a invite to his home the Casa De laGrande whatever that means ...it was written on his gate . he was a really nice man and had alot of horses and dogs .

Wow, Kim thats awesome!! Wish I had that luck. Closest I have gotten to meet any of the concerts I have seen this year is a pic on my cell phone of the lead singer of Emerson Drive, which was at the Detroit Hoedown in May of this year. I have no clue what his name is but love their music. I also talked to one of the band members of another country group called Heartland and he waved to me as I was selling my glow stuff and working and he was on stage. Thats about it. When REO played I was behind the booth working and dancing and singing and watch from a distance. Sounds fun though, love concerts!!!

Waaay back in the mid 70's I had front row center seats to Peter Frampton.. When he was singing, he stopped and held out the mike for the audience to finish the verse and I was the only idiot that screamed it out so he came running off stage gave me a rose and kissed me.

He was soooooo cute when he was young and so skinney that he looked anorexic.

Years and years ago when I lived in the UK, I lived in a pub for awhile that catered to the rich and famous. It was unique and I met a lot of people. The landlord got me to work behind the bar occasionally - there were two bars in this place and one night I worked the upstairs bar. I didn't know one drink from another or how to pull pints and that night a band was playing and the crowd was 5 deep at the bar. The band was Mungo Jerry and Paul King was the lead singer so we got to know each other over time as they played there regularly. Paul painted a mural in the upstairs bar and I was his assistant.

At the same place I met Denny Laine of Wings (remember that group with Paul & Linda McCartney) and finally Eric Clapton, who's sister was having a 21st birthday party there. Mind you, he was surrounded by armed body guards but still, I met him.
Oh life is so quiet now compared to then....this was in the late 70s.

You lucky girl, Jeanette. Yes, life is quiet now. I have met a lot of famous people, especially since I lived in L.A. and hung around Palm Springs and Hollywood. I never liked the jet set much. Too many drugs and too much attitude.. Some were truely nice like, Victoria Principal, Charlie Daniels, Cher, etc... My favorite was when I flew next to James Earl Jones. He was a great conversationalist and funny. His voice is just as rich in real life as on camera. Sigh. yes, life is quiet now.

Yes, Cyn, quite the difference. This things I've seen and done, I could write a book.

Kim, they were good memories and interesting ones. I've had the privilege of meeting a lot of people from all walks of life in a number of countries. It makes for a full life.

Now as promised, if not a little late, a photo of the newly hatched duckling that kept me company with my coffee the other morning. Its a Khaki Campbell duckling, the offspring of a bunch of them we have running around the farm. They're tiny ducks with soft little voices and are a lovely mottled brown colouring. They're quite sweet. Unfortunately a hawk killed one of the males the other day in the meadow. Its the price paid for having animals around I guess.
Next come the pig pictures....

and about 6 hours old when this was taken. The white ones are yellow when they hatch, but the babies come in all colours depending on their breed.
I said I'd do one in late August but haven't checked if I'm up or not. By all means use this photo if you want in your challenge. I'm never short of small fluffy things to photograph. Two hundred broiler chicks arrived on Saturday!

I love all animals while they are babies, can't say much when they are grown though. Guess I lose interest and weird that way. LOL. Though one of the neighbors gave my older girls a huge hamster the other day and she is adorable for a rodent. As long as she is caged I am fine and I don't have to touch it. The girls know its their responsibility to take care of her and the cage. Well, see how long it last...

Me? Well, with the hand injury on the 10th, I have been to the emergency room 4 times and they finally sent me to a plastic surgeon on the 21st. Did you know that all species of umbrella trees are toxic? Duh!!
They couldn't seal the wound and when they removed the stitches, the hand fell open. I'm good now though. 2000 MG of antibiotic a day and I sleep all the time. I am finally kind of using it to type. I have to be careful though because the big metal brace on my arm keeps hitting the keys and I spell badly enough without help..
On the custody thing.. My son got custody but her mom gets her every other weekend and they share holidays. One more abuse charge and she loses those rights. Makayla is just thrilled that she gets to live with dad. She is singing at the top of her lungs..

She starts kindergarten the 27th of August. It's nice to have her home and safe.. Hopefully her mother will be on good behavior and not hurt her any more. For all of you that were saying prayers or keeping their fingers crossed, I thank you from the bottom of my heart....

Kim, we painted my daughter's room about a month ago. It used to be pink, and now that she's 9, pink is too "babyish" for her. We painted it white and then rag-painted sky blue all over the place. Then we pasted butterfly "wallies" all over the place. The painting looks like clouds in a bright blue sky -- it's really nice. She loves it! She got new bedclothes too -- blue and violet stripes.

she wanted no special drawings on the wall just a med forest green ....so Ernest be happy you still get to do for your daughter because as they get older they want to do for themselves .. and btw it looks nice .. my daughter is doing a nice job .
