Hi Bob
I admire your drawing very much...I think it's outstanding and I find that very interesting the paper you use...Thanks for sharing that, I am sure many of us can learn from you...I hope you will take part in more challenges..I look forward to seeing more of your drawings.
Brian
Brian,
Thank you for your feedback. In regards to the paper, I tested it with a Rhino head study. This was a good study because there was a complete range of tones. It will even take charcoal. The only thing I found a bit difficult with this paper was pulling up the graphite once layered (blue tac). Other than that it allowed plenty of tooth for some deep darks. I'll upload it to my gallery so you can have a look. Again, I wouldn't use this paper for the keepers. I'm not even sure if it is acid free paper. This paper probably won't stand the test of time.

Really great job, Bob, and thanks for joining in! I haven't been joining in many challenges lately for the same reason -- I just don't have enough drawing time available. I need to learn to do rougher, faster drawings.
It's funny -- learning to draw well involved learning to take my time, to have patience to spend hours on a drawing. Now I need to learn to go quickly again, when the need arises.
Hello Ernest,
Thank you for your remarks. I wasn't sure that I could produce a decent drawing in less than 5 hours. Usually this is just enough time to do a decent composition! What I did was cheat on the detail in the body and background. Rather than hatching I blended the first layers and tried to leave just enough tooth to throw some hatching on top of the blending. I spent more than an hour on the head to try to get just enough detail to cover the lack of quality in the body.
You may also have noticed that I only drew in key areas of the ground cover to give the illusion.
It's all smoke and mirrors you know.
These are great challenges are great practice and I will try to get into a routine to do at least 2 per month.
