About this photo subject, Norma, it is a kind of corn warehouse. It´s called "espigueiro" in portuguese. I got this definition on the net:

"Espigueiro is a structure normally of rock and wood, existing however some entirely of rock, with the function to dry the thick maize through the lateral fictions, and at the same time to hinder the destruction of the same for rodents through the rise of this. As the maize requires that it is harvested in the Autumn, this needs to be the most aired possible to dry in a so adverse station as the Winter. In the territory of Portugal Continental, they are located mainly in the North."

Well better late than never. I didn't start this with watercolor in mind, but the best laid plans... Here is my attempt done on crumby 80 lb drawing paper (I really hadn't planned on using water media, but I did) using Bienfang watercolor brush pens. Thanks Sonia for some very challenging subjects.
