Hello everyone! I´m Sonia (Adobeiro) and I will be your host for this week´s drawing challenge.
All levels of drawing are encouraged to participate!
The goal of this thread is to enable and encourage individuals to practice their drawing skills, learn new techniques and have fun! If you just want to sketch that’s fine. If you want to create a complex, detailed drawing, that’s great too. You will get out of this what you want. The references used are from my own personal reference library of images that I have photographed and I release them here as not under copyright, meaning you can use them as you wish for drawing.
You will be challenged by some aspect of all references most likely as you all will have different strengths and weaknesses in your ability to translate the images to paper.
Reminder:
This is a DRAWING challenge. Therefore please confine your artistic endeavors to some form of drawing: graphite, colored pencil, pen and ink or charcoal.
There is no ruling on what size your final drawing or sketch should be. Smaller, sketchbook sizes will provide a smaller file size which is easier for loading onto the thread.
If you would like assistance or advice, please ask for it and I will be more than willing to try to guide you.
This challenge will last for one week. At that time, all challenge drawings should be submitted to this thread.
I have offered 6 reference images, photographed during my vacation in Portugal, to choose from. The images are also provided in greyscale. Seeing the images in black and white gives a better sense of basic values.
I have kept the images to simple shapes that still provide challenges. Block out your basic shapes first then work the details into them, rechecking proportion and measurement against other reference points in your drawing.
If you have an interest in hosting a challenge, please see the list in the pinned area of general discussions.
So, let´s get started! Look forward to see all of you joining in and having fun with me...

I love the contrast of the Graphite with the color.. Looks like some of the old black and whites that have been tinted.. So popular now..
good job..

Thank you very much for your delicious contribution! Oh, and if you still want to do the hand, that´s a lil frog on it...

Dear Steve, Kim and
Carol, I hope you are joining in too... I´m a fan of your work and it would make me so happy if you draw/paint some of my references...

I totally agree,
Kim! Every drawing is special cause it reflects each ones sensibility to the reference picture, each ones tastes and charisma! I had participated in some challenges already but being the host is a totally different experience! I am loving it and I just hope we can get more participants!

Steve, what a stunning painting you did!! Truly beautiful!! And I totally agree with
Sipsik... The water is so inviting that I would gladly go for a swim!

But I can assure you that the fisherman is not very happy with you... you took his opportunity of catching more than one fish at the same time!

Thank you, Steve, for joining in and presenting us this beautiful piece!
Paulette, thank you so much for the opportunity to host this challenge! I am having fun, alright!...
Oh,
Elena, you did the frog!

Thank you! Your sketch is very beautiful!!

I WOULD LOVE TO BUT MY PROBLEM IS THAT IT WOULD TAKE ME A MONTH TO FINISH IT (LOL). I WILL ATTEMPT ONE SOON

I AM MY WORST CRITIC SO I AM ALWAYS ERASING AND RE DOING UNTIL I AM HAPPY WITH IT. I'M HOPING THAT I WILL IMPROVE IN THAT DEPARTMENT.
I AM HOSTING THE CHALLENGE STARTING SUNDAY, I HOPE YOU WILL LIKE MY PHOTOS (THIS WILL BE MY FIRST TIME AT HOSTING A CHALLENGE) I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO IT!

But just take your time. You can use these photos whenever you want and still post them here or in your own gallery.
I´m sure everyone will like your photos. I will check them also and see if I can grab some time to participate on your challenge.
