Hello everyone ,
Once again it is my turn to post some images for you to try and draw ..I have picked a few of my favorite images some I have taken and some I have gotten from others.

You may draw any of these images in any medium from colored pencil to digital .

Image 1 : My daughter at Ft. Myers writting in the sand , I thought the sand would be a bit of a challenge with all the shadows.

Image 2 : is a Khaki Campbell duckling This image was taken by Jeanette and she has gave me permission to use in this challenge ...ty Jeanette smile.gif

Image 3 : Is a cup of coffee...I thought the spoon reflections and the liquid would be a fun challenge .

Image 4 : Kewi fruit ...myself I do not care for the taste but it is a beautiful fruit when cut open .

Image 5 : Flip Flops AKA ummm Flip Flops lol .

Image 6 : last but not least our good ole American flag ...in memory of our men who have given their own lives to protect ours .

Rules are ...... Have fun smile.gif

Kim - I am going to try the ducking. Remember- I'm old and slow, and from Ohio. Not to bring up anything about Ohio and Michigan.

Old and slow is just fine smile.gif
meow2000
brian love your chick

good pictures kim . i have deside what one to do yet.
Cyn
Here is the first thing I've drawn since I hurt my hand. It's funny how hard it is to hold your art pad still, manuver it around, and try to draw even when the hurt hand isn't the drawing hand. laugh.gif I will be in therapy after the arm brace is off and I have already gone toooo long without trying to draw. rolleyes.gif
JesusFreak
Nice selection of photos!! i think i will try the coffee cup!!!
Venus
smile.gif Beautiful job, Cyn!! Welcome back to the world of drawing. wub.gif

My world famous duckling is finished. Yikes. I would guess he has a rare disease and will never fly. I'm hoping to use a scanner instead of my camera, so will be a day or two before he gets posted. I did him in CP. rolleyes.gif

Cyn
Thanks for the kind words about my cup. I thought it was pretty bad but at least you made me feel good about it. laugh.gif I am trying to overcome the frustration of one handed living, but if 5 million people can do it all the time, I can do it for a little while. tongue.gif

Every one has done such a great job. I love the challenges and watching everyone else.
BTW, Brian... Great ducky!!

Greyman
This is my first cup
IRBaboon
Cute duckling Brian, very fluffy!
Great job Cyn, is it watercolour or CP?
Looking forward to seeing your duckling Slim, you were quick with those CP's.
Great job Greyman, I like the metallic effect.

khinchowin888
my kiwi challenge, one kiwi is darker than other one. i think right hand side is better than other, So i keep it light.
Thanks Kim for photos. Flip flops are on the way, still trying. I missed out last week challenge as I am very busy.

Cyn ...I had surgery on my right hand just after my first daughter was born so I had to learn to do so many things one handed .. the cast had to stay on what seemed like forever .. then after words I had therapy for it .. my thumb was completly broke away inside .. the only thing holding it together was one tendon and skin .
I wouldnt have been able to draw that well with my right hand back then .

Greyman ...love your cup .. I like the spoon reflection .

Lily your kiwi is pretty small but from what i can see you have done a good job .

Thank you..They are Conté Sketching Pencils. I learned about them from Jeanette. I love them on colored paper and I just needed something creamy coffee colored. biggrin.gif I used Veneian Red and Terracotta.. I need to practice more so that I can do as good as the rest of you. tongue.gif

I love the ducks and cups and kiwi and now I am waiting for someone to do the flip flops. They look like thay have complicated shadows to me. wacko.gif

Great cup, Greyman.. You make it look so easy and it was such a struggle for me. biggrin.gif

Wow, Kim, ohmy.gif I would much rather do my hand than yours. Broken bones are the worst. I just need a laceration to seal and I'm done. You have a lifetime of bone hurts. :-) Poor baby!!
kim1963
Slim your duckling is very cute can almost feel the fur .. good job .

Oh I didnt breack bones .. it was pulled and everything inside the skin tore but it did not break the skin . any hand injury is bad when you use your hands as we do .

Thanks - now on to the next project. I kept an injured duck once for 7 years. Ate that good corn and couldn't fly if it had wanted to.

WOW!
I am new to this site since last night. All of you are soooo talented!
I will be afraid to show any of my drawings as I will pale in comparison.
I am having a really tough time with shading. I have not drawn a picture, other than erection drawings
on Autocad that I do for a living, in about 10 years or so. I just got some pencils and sketchbook last week and a Dummies book and am trying to pick it up again.
Any tips on shading would be much appreciated.
The New kid on the block,
Cindy
Cyn
Hi Cindy, and wecome to the site... Don't feel shy about showing your drawings. We all started somewhere and believe it or not, our fabulous Kim and Venus even get shy about showing the beautiful stuff they do sometimes. Especially when it is out of their comfort zone. But that happens to everyone. I am so far behind everybody that I feel like a kid in school. Hey, wait! I AM a kid in school. Drawspace school anyway. laugh.gif .
This is a wonderful place to learn and everyone is very encouraging and helpful. Sometimes I come here just to look at peoples gallerys because they are so beautiful and breathtaking and some are just plain clever.. tongue.gif

Cyn
Venus
wub.gif Awww, thanks for the wonderful compliment Cyn!! You are not a beginner, LOL.

smile.gif Cindy, everyone starts somewhere with their drawing. I have seen people go from good to better here at Drawspace in just a matter of months. All it takes is wanting to accomplish it and hard work, as well as lots of practice. If you need to work on your shading, I suggest you start out with Brenda's lessons and work from the beginner levels and up. Not saying follow the lessons in order or anything, but start with the ones that focus on shading. I saw your pictures you posted in your gallery and you draw fairly well. You just need a little practice with the shading and you'll be producing beautiful pictures in no time at all. Ohh, and if you want to see horrible work go look at my portraits in my gallery..LOL.

tongue.gif Kim, beautiful job on the kiwi hun.

Thanks so much!
I will continue to practice and learn from my book and this site.
Do people ever do drawings (or should I say pictures) using Autocad (computer aided drafting for those
who don't know what it is)?
I use it just, basically, to draw straight lines of the joist and deck layout of a roof system.
I know it has 3D capibilities but I have never used it....
I was just wondering because when I went to class for Autocad they did not go into the 3D and animation part of it....I thought it might be a interesting tool for drawing pictures....

Here are my drawing , I did the duckling and the Kiwi laugh.gif

nice work meow2000. I love the feathers wub.gif
kim1963
Meow clever to put them together .. I did the flag but have not yet scanned it ..your drawing are very nice .

Cyn you are sweet to say such nice things smile.gif thank you but you have some very nice artwork yourself ....we all get shy to show it at times and what Cyn said about drawing outside your comfort zone then showing your work ..at times it is hard because you may do well on portraits .. but Kiwi artist you are not lol speaking of myself .. the fruit was outside my Zone ...here is my flag .
Brian David Dekter
Meow 2000 that is so adorable! smile.gif I love it.

Kim That is top notch....you sure are talented.... smile.gif

Cyn ... wub.gif Honestly I keep going back to look at your cup and saucer and I think it is quite remarkable...I wish I could draw that well ...I failed twice..... I agree with Kim you deserve way more credit then you give yourself... smile.gif
Ernest Friedman-Hill
Now that I've finished the eternal prom portrait, I had time to do a drawing for this week's challenge: it's been awhile! I think my duck picture is actually more of a portrait of Jeanette.

[attachmentid=6537]

kim1963
Ernest I love the way you cropped it down .. seems more gentle I am sure jeanette will like this one smile.gif

Hey everyone, here is my weekly challenge, the duckling wub.gif
This is my first peice in coloured pencils, so i would love some feedback, and any tips to make my future work better biggrin.gif

Thanks, Katie
Brian David Dekter
Hi Katie C.

I think your drawing is wonderful! ......Islander NL...(Jeanette) is teaching a color pencil class in the forums....you should check it out.... and our wonderful host, Kim too I am sure would offer help ....and also Venus is very talented.
hope to see more of your drawings.. smile.gif

Brian.
IRBaboon
Great duckling Katie.
As Brian said the coloured pencil class is great for tips and advice; Andyart is doing a fantastic picture of her dog, so you may get some tips from that. I'm sure Jeanette wouldn't mind if you wanted to join in with the class.
There are also some good hair/fur drawing lessons on this site that Brenda has posted.
khinchowin888
Here is my flip flop challenge.
Kim , my kiwi drawing is actually not that small but when i scan look like a little bit small. If you double clip the picture i think, may be a bit bigger. Should I adjust the scaner or how?
Kim, I would like to know which color you using for kiwi skin? only one brown or other a few colors.
Anyway I scan two drawings ,i do not know still small or not.

lily
katie_cuddles1
Thanks everyone for your feedback, i will definately look at the couloured pencil class in the forum biggrin.gif
Brian David Dekter
I admire all the drawings!

I kind of rushed this so I think my flip flops may be a flop.... smile.gif sure was a fun challenge....
kim1963
Katie your duck is so cute .. looks soft .. you did a very nice job .

Lily and Brian .. nice job on the flip flops smile.gif I love the shadows you have created .
