I heard that there were problems Trish but WOW!! That is sooooo bad. I could not imagine not getting to vote even though we all complain, we still (well I do) appreciate a say in our Govt.
At least things seem to be going better over there now as far as elections go, I just hope that the world financial problems are going to be over soon and we can all get back to normal as far as jobs and houses go, as soon as possible.
Mind you, most of us have been through several economic hicoughs before and we have all come through intact, just have to get my Superannuation fund going forward again and I will feel a lot better!!

It's about time the people took back control from the idiots! Small government, more freedom. That's what we want! It's time to find out where all the money is going? I know in the U.S. there is a move to audit the fed. Wwell that's a good start! Here in Europe, we are having all our decisions made for us by unelected bureaucrats. The european parliament (That's a laugh!) has no opposition. How does that work?

Sue,
I am with you, I surely hope that this will all settle down soon. I have a feeling, though, that it will take longer than we all have patience for. Wouldn't it be lovely to be able to wave a wand and go back to a simpler, easier time?
Steve,
Believe it or not, there has been an audit process in place for quite some time, it is called the Office of Management and Budget, I think the problem is, they audit, point out where the problems are, but they have no power to implement changes or enforce any sort of control. I guess they operate with the spirit of: "Read 'em and weep!"
What is quite scary to me is that we are printing money as if it were "Monopoly" money, without anything to back it up. We are so indebted to China, we don't even cover the debt service charges. Have you been inundated with goods from China as we have here? When I was a child, things marked "Made in Japan" or "Made in Hong Kong" were thought to be cheap junk. Nowadays, all you can get is made in China, or Japan or Korea. I have nothing against those countries personally, but economically there needs to be a better balance of trade.
Sorrry to have gotten all serious here... My late husband always said never discuss politics or religion amongst friends, it usually makes bad feelings.
I am sorry if I have offended anyone, it was not my intention to do so.

Steve, reading your post I had an immediate image of Sir Humphrey Appleby (Yes, Minister......of course Minister!)
Click to view attachment Actually I agree that a tier of government needs to go - Here in Oz we have the Federal Govt, the State Govt and Local Govt and each one takes their pound of flesh (How can I possibly be overweight then????

). Except that the our Local Councillors (when did they become Councillors??? they used to be Aldermen/women???) anyway they are at each others throats more than the other two ........it makes it hard to pick which one to get rid of..........perhaps a period of good old fashioned Sex Pistol anarchy and then a remodeling of the system...........now I do sound like a 60's radical! Where is my tie died skirt!
I think a good debate about politics is a wonderful thing - and I love playing Devil's Advocate sometimes just to get a bite! Its too much fun at times, and the worse thing is that I am quite good at weasel-words .............I could be a Humphrey Apppleby in the making .......oh no!!!!!!!!!

I've sent the cards I completed off to William, hope they arrive safe and sound - and soon!
Miss you guys!

Remember ? - I'm a giant fan! I think I have 18 albums.
He's still making music. "A Valid Path" was released in 2004, and get this David Gilmore (Pink Floyd) plays guitar on a track.
They were not officially 60's though, "Tales of Mystery and Imagination" was released in 1976.
I'd be up for an Allan Parsons ATC ! :-)

Remember the song One is the lonliest number ? Union Gap ? I would like to change that .. 60 is the lonliest.. Ha !! I don't feel any different in my mind but looking in the mirror I wonder .. Who the Sam Hill is that looking back..
My heritage means so much to me ,, more now than ever .. my life I suppose was wrapped around my grandfather more than anyone else..He was so wise .. I only wished I had listened more.. He was trying to teach me about who we are and I was being young and foolish.. I lost a lot of valuable lessons by closing my ears..

Glad you like them Steve & Trish, now I am just going to do the random envelope trick. I love doing this - I address all the envelopes and shuffle them around and put them face down I then put a card on top of each envelope and note who is getting what. It is amazing that the cards that people get are so often something that means something to that person - strange how often that happens with a random selection.

HI Jamie, it would be lovely for you to join in the next swap..the mail isnt a prob usually. it takes sometimes less time for things to get here to the USA from the UK than it does within country mailing.
But dont let the mailing discourage you, we have plenty ppl who participate from the UK.
